G B Peachey, 21st London Regiment, comprising: DCM, 1914-15 Star, British War Medal and the Victory Medal,together with a regimental letter,a typed extract from the London Gazette, anda scrapbook including Ben Peachey's obituaryBen Peachey enlisted in 1914 at the age of 23, and went out to France in 1915. Despite joining up as a solo coronet player, he was awarded the DCM for conspicuous gallantry in action, with the following appearing in the London Gazette at the time: 'He took command and led on the remnants of his platoon with great courage and determination. He afterwards bandaged the wounded under very heavy fire, until himself severely wounded'.
