A WWI Military Cross group of five to Sir Harold Lister Farquhar KCMG, MC (1894-1954) 2nd Lifeguards:, KCMG and neck badge, Military Cross, 1914-15 Star, War Medal, Victory Medal and King Gustav V's 90th Birthday Commemorative Decoration, together with corresponding miniatures and a set of four WWII miniature service medals in a gilt brass glazed case, the case 50cm x 31cm.*Notes- The Farquhar Baronetcy, of Cadogan House in the County of Middlese, was created in the Baronetage of Great Britain on 1 March 1796 for Walter Farquhar , Physician to George IV when Prince of Wales and subsequently President of the Royal College of Physicians . Sir Harold Farquhar , grandson of Harvie Morton Farquhar, second son of the second Baronet, was a diplomat and served as British Ambassador to Eithopia 1946-48 and Sweden between 1948 and 1951.* Provenance by direct family descent.

Johnson, with portrait on obverse and boating on reverse; a larger ditto inscribed "L'Accdemia delle Arti del Disegno - Giacomo Manzu 1978 - 1979," approx. 9cms (3 1/2") diameter; and another Dante item, "L'Alto Passo / Centro Dante / Co. Aonach Tailteann [Tailteann Games] 1932. Two large silver gilt Medals, hallmarked, in original fitted cases, diam. circa 5cms (2"), each engraved 'FIRST PRIZE ART' on reverse, obverse with a fine relief portrait of 'An Bainrioghan Tailte', with a third medal, silver, hallmarked, in original fitted case, 1928, engraved 'ART / FIRST'.* Probably these are for work submitted by the Cuala Press. Arnold does not record any medal awarded to Jack Yeats. They are very attractive medals, quite scarce. The Tailteann Games, featuring art and industry as well as athletics, were revived in the 1920s.Provenance: The Yeats Family Collection.

1936 Second Maccabiah Winter Games 3rd place bronze prize medal for the cross-country skiing team event,65.5mm., obverse with stylized figure wearing the Maccabiah emblem, ski jump, skater in mountainous background, above a shield dated 18.2, and the winner's position III, engraved below STAFETY Czech legend notes games location, Banskß Bystrica, Slovakia, reverse Maccabiah emblem, Hebrew legend, in original fitted caseThe Maccabiah Games were first held in Tel Aviv in 1932 as an international multi-sport event, and is sometimes referred to as the "Jewish Olympics." A winter Maccabiah was first held in Poland in 1933. The present medal comes from the 2nd Winter Maccabiah which was staged February 18th to 22nd, 1936, in Banska Bystrica the in Czechoslovakia. 2,000 athletes participated from 12 participating nations. This was to prove the last time a winter Maccabiah was held, with no attempts to revive it after the 2nd World War-although the Maccabi World Union still runs smaller regional winter games to date.
