["After the Relief of Ladysmith Sit Redvers Buller brought the following among other officers and men to the attention of the Secretary for War through Lord Roberts...Sergeant Norman Sparke and Lance-Sergeant Munro; December 15, Colenso - Displayed great gallantry and excellent management of their men dander severe fire. Segt Sparke is the youngest son of the late Rev Wm Sparke, of Kirkwall." Colour Sergeant Sparke died of enteric fever at Johannesburg.]

A Great War gallantry group, comprising a Distinguished Conduct medal, British War and Victory medals to 26859 Sjt F Clegg, 8th Border Regiment. [London Gazette 2 December 1919, "For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty on 22nd October 1918, near Klaadestraat. When a platoon had lost its commander and several officers from heavy machine-gun fire, he took over command of the remainder and led them forward most gallantly. Later, he collected the remainder of another platoon under machine-gun fire, and led them forward with his own men. Later again, when the enemy attempted to counter-attack, he inflicted heavy casualties on them by Lewis-gun and rifle fire, compelling them to withdraw. Throughout the day he showed marked ability and leadership under the heaviest machine-gun fire."] [ Lonsdale Battalion ]

A Waterloo Medal impressed to Serj William Hill, 1st Batt 95th Reg Foot, fitted with original steel clip and ring suspension, together with research notes. [Traced as a private on the muster rolls for the Leicestershire Militia in 1809. Volunteered to serve as a private with the 1st Battalion Rifles on 31st March 1809 until 1810. Promoted serjeant 25th September 1811, in England June 1810 until March 1815. Served at Waterloo with the 1st Rifle Brigade. Promoted to quartermaster serjeant 25th August 1816. Served in North America 9th July 1825 until March 1826. Promoted to quartermaster December 1826. To half pay on 29th March 1829.]
A Naval General Service Medal, 1793-1840, with Trafalgar clasp, impressed to Andrew Malcolm, together with two Prize Money certificates and extensive research notes. [Andrew Malcolm, born Glasgow 1780, Royal Navy 1st September 1804 aged 24. Served on HMS Britannia under Captain Charles Bullen. Carried the flag of Lord Northesk, third in Command at Trafalgar. Fourth ship in the weather line and thus early into action, continuing closely engaged until the end. Sustaining a loss of 52 killed and wounded. Escorted three of the prizes home to Plymouth, her last service. Malcolm later served 1816 - 1818 on HMS Genoa and from 1821 - 1825 on HM Ramilles. A total of 21 years.]

[Amendment: this is now considered to be a father and son group.] An exceptional Royal Navy long service medal group, spanning the reigns of Queen Victoria through to Queen Elizabeth II, comprising a 1914-15 Star, British War and Victory medals, Royal Navy Long Service and Good Conduct Medal with clasp, 1939-45 War and Defence medals, and the British Empire Medal, those of Edwin Charles Guy who volunteered for service in 1883, served during both World Wars and whilst recruiting for the Royal Navy, was awarded the British Empire Medal during the present Queen's coronation year, 1953, he served as a cook during the first years of his service, is rated a Boy 1st class on his 1914-15 Star, Able Bodied Seaman on the British War and Victory medals, and Petty Officer ( HMS Victory ) on the long service medal, the group includes service and medal related documents, two extensive photograph albums depicting service between the Wars, portrait and group photographs, a silver cigarette case engraved "Presented to CPO Guy in appreciation of service as President of CPOs' Mess, HMS Excellent, 1937-38, and a Master of the Watch telescope by Ross and engraved "Awarded to E C Guy, Advanced Class, Royal Hospital School, Greenwich, July, 1912

[ Victoria Cross / Medal ] A Cardette photographic portrait of Petty Officer Alfred Sephton, VC, Royal Navy, together with a large group of personal photographs, many depicting Sephton and his fellow sailors aboard vessels and relaxing ashore, also images of marine actions and studio portrait photographs of Sephton in uniform with family members. ["On 18 May 1941 in the Mediterranean, south of Crete, Petty Officer Sephton was a director layer on HMS Coventry when she went to the assistance of a hospital ship which was being attacked by German dive-bombers. When the enemy engaged Coventry, strafing her with machine-gun fire, Petty Officer Sephton was mortally wounded, a bullet actually passing through his body and injuring an able seaman beside him. Although in great pain and partially blinded, nevertheless he stuck to his instruments and carried out his duties until the attack was over. He died of his injuries next day."]
