Badge. 72nd Highlanders Crimean War Period, Attributed Officer’s cased silver plaid brooch. A superb and rare example worn by Lieutenant The Honourable A. T. Fitzmaurice. Made by Lambert & Rawlings, Jewellers 12, Coventry Street, of the pattern introduced in 1852. Silver quoit engraved with Ducal Crown resting on “Hindoostan” scroll, thistle wreath,; to the base another scroll inscribed “Cape of Good Hope” with “ATF” monogram beneath. The centre set with a facetted glass foiled citrine, this can be removed for wear in undress. Retaining stout double pin fixing to reverse. Housed in its original fitted red leather case with domed lid. VGC Lieutenant The Honourable A. T. Fitzmaurice born 23rd Jan 1838 at Taplow, commissioned Ensign 1853 and advanced to Lieutenant the following year. Served in Eastern campaign in 1855 including expedition to Ketch, Siege of Sevastopol and attack of 18th June. Received Crimea Medal with clasp Sevastopol. Died 19th June 1894 aged 60.
Royal Air Force RAF General Service Medal “Palestine” Pair of Medals. Awarded to “518771 A.C.1 F.W.J. LEEK RAF”. Comprising: General Service Medal, clasp Palestine, “AC1 RAF”, 1935 Jubilee Medal. Medals loose. Information supplied by the vendor indicates that AC1 Leek served in Palestine with 33 Squadron which at that time operated the Gloster Gladiator aircraft.
