A rare and interesting WWI First World War medal group. All awarded to a ' Lieutenant C. P. Weyman '. Comprising: Order Of The Star Of Romania, Victory Medal, War Medal and 1914-15 Star (blank to verso). All with original ribbons, all mounted on bar. Along with the original miniature medals also present.

Within a fitted blue leather case.
CONSTANTIN KLUGE (RUSSIAN / FRENCH 1912 - 2003), NOTRE DAME, PARIS oil on canvas, signed 54cm x 67cm Framed. Note: Constantin Kluge was a Russian-born French painter best known for his naturalistic scenes of Paris and French countryside in a style reminiscent of Albert Marquet. Kluge was born to a wealthy military family on January 29, 1912 in Riga, Latvia, which was then a large, industrial Russian port city. He spent much of his childhood and young adult life between Manchuria, Beijing, and Hong Kong, where he discovered a love for brush and ink painting. Kluge studied architecture at the École des Beaux Arts in Paris and earned his diploma in 1937. Upon graduating, he painted the city’s river banks and streets before returning to Shanghai. With the rise of Communism in China, the artist fled to Paris in 1950 and began exhibiting in French Salons. He was a success both artistically and financially. Of his many awards, he received the Gold Medal, Salon des Artistes Francais and was made Chevalier de la Legion d’Honneur by the French Government. He died on January 9, 2003 in Paris, France. Kluge’s works are in the collections of the Musée d’Orsay and the Musée d’Art Moderne in Paris, among many others.
NOBEL PEACE PRIZE WINNERS: Ralph Bunche (1904-1971) American Scientist and Diplomat. First African-American to be awarded with the Nobel Peace Prize in 1950. Also awarded by President John F. Kennedy with the Presidential Medal of Freedom. T.L.S., `Ralph´, one page, 4to, New York, 6th September 1963, on the United Nations printed stationery, to Robert Livingstone. Bunche states `I know that the Office of Personnel will do all they can with regard to your interest. I am hoping soon to see Molly and compare memories. It will be great fun, for she is an astute observer.´, and Auguste Beernaert (1829-1912) Prime Minister of Belgium 1884-94. Nobel Peace Prize in 1909. A.L.S., `A. Beernaert´, two pages, 8vo, mourning paper, Brussels, 10th October 1885, to the Premier President, in French. Beernaert states in part `Baron Beyens, our Minister in Paris, asks me to recommend to you his request which will be presented to you on behalf of his daughter Mme Baroness Rousseliere..´ With blank integral leaf. CARNOT LAZARE: (1753-1823) French Physicist and politician. Known as the Organizer of Victory in the French Revolutionary Wars. An excellent and rare A.L.S., `Carnot´, one page, 4to, n.p.[Paris], 2nd September 1795, to patriot Palloy, in French. Carnot as `representative of the people´ explains to his correspondent that he has received his circular and states in part `I have received Citizen...the seals and engravings enclosed and the forged medal with the tyranny iron which has weighed over France....´ further saying `I also had my own part of prosecutions suffered by the patriots of 89..´ Carnot refers to seals and engravings issued for the commemoration of the Revolution. Two extremely small holes not affecting the text or signature. One crease and very small area of paper loss to the left edge, otherwise G £600-900 Pierre Francois Palloy (1755-1835) Known as Palloy the Patriot. Building contractor who started demolishing the Bastille the same 14th July 1789 and secured the contract two days later. A thousand workers participated in these works and large stones were reused for the construction of the Pont de la Concorde. Palloy wrote speeches, arranged celebratory festivals and issued paintings reconstructing the Storm of the Bastille.
LEWIS LENNOX: (1965- ) British-Canadian Boxer. World heavyweight Champion and Olympic Games gold medal. Lewis is widely considered one of the greatest heavyweight boxers of all times, he defeated Mike Tyson in one of the most highly anticipated fights in boxing history, and in his final fight defeated Vitali Klitschko in a bloody encounter. A good signed red Lonsdale boxing glove by Lewis, boldly signed in black ink to a clear area of the glove. VG £80-100
PRINCESSE MOUSTACHE - NATALYA GALITZINE: (1741-1837) Princess Natalya Galitzine, or Natalia Golitsyna. She inspired Alexander Pushkin´s The Queen of Spades (1834). Known as Princess Moustache, "Whiskered Princess" or "Bearded Fairy". A Russian noble, born Countess Chernysheva, and lady in waiting of Catherine the Great who awarded her with a gold medal for her dance in the masquerade in 1766 and appointed her with the Order of St. Catherine´s first degree. She also lived in France, participating in the French court life and was known as the "Venus of Moscow" for her skilful dance at balls. Natalya Galitzine was widely considered as one of the most learned women in Russia. A Rare and very interesting A.L.S., `Princesse de Galitzin, born Countess Czernichew´, three pages, 4to, St. Petersbourg, 1st of June 1794, to a Marquise, in French. Princess Galitzine first refers to France and its difficult times stating in part `.. I have very often lamented the troubles which are afflicting France now, I feel all what good French must be experiencing with bitterness watching this great Kingdom bust by the wars and disorder..´ further expressing his consternation referring to the Marie-Antoinette´s execution saying `I will not be able to think, without feeling a strong and deep emotion, the details of the death of this Queen who was beloved by everybody and my personal and precious remembrances..´ Further referring to her children and husbands and thanking her correspondent for her help and kindness during her stay in France. Overall minor age wear and creasing, very small staining and bottom edge slightly trimmed, otherwise G £400-600 The Queen of Spades (1834) is a short story by Alexander Pushkin (1799-1837). The character of the old countess was inspired by Princess Natalya Galitzine who served as the lady-in-waiting for 5 Russian emperors. According to legend, Galitzine had been a successful gambler. When her grandson lost a considerable amount of money playing cards and came to her to beg her for money, Galitzine instead revealed to him the secret three cards that Count Saint-Germain showed to her in Paris. However, while the Countess died in the story, Galitzine outlived Pushkin. The story was the basis of the opera of same name by Piotr Illich Tchaikovsky.
