WW1 British Royal Engineers Staff Colonels Uniform, consisting of four pocket service dress tunic with regimental tunic buttons. Gorget collar patches and rank insignia to the shoulder straps. Above breast pocket is medal ribbon bar for the Military Cross and 1914-15 star. Single bullion wound stripe to one sleeve and four years overseas service chevrons to the other. Attached to the arm is staff officers wool armband. Interior of the tunic with lower shell dressing pocket. Collar with tailors label having inked name of the original owner, but this is not clear. Tunic is accompanied by his original staff colonels peaked cap with bullion wire to the peak, bullion embroidered cap insignia, thin patent chinstrap and gilt metal side buttons. Cap is complete with the original khaki cloth cover. Interior with tan leather sweatband and crimson cloth lining. Some mothing to the central band. Also comes with officers Sam Browne belt and cross strap.
Full Entitlement Medal Group of Three for Service in Both the Boer War and Great War, Rifle Brigade & Ox and Bucks Light Infantry, Queens South Africa medal, ghost dates on reverse with clasps Transvaal and Laing’s Nek, engraved naming, “5718 PTE H PIESLEY RIFLE BDE”, Kings South Africa medal with 2 clasps, South Africa 1901 and South Africa 1902, impressed naming, “5718 PTE. H. PIESLEY RIFLE BRIGADE”, British War medal, “20467 PTE. H. PIESLEY OXF. & BUCKS L.I.” Medals and clasps confirmed on the relevant rolls and British War medal is confirmed as his full entitlement for the Great War. Change of service number is confirmed on his service records. Henry Piesley, an 18 year old groom from Hammersmith, London, attested for service in the Rifle Brigade on 2nd April 1898. He was discharged to class B reserve on 1st April 1910 on termination of his period of engagement. During the Great War he served with the 1st Garrison Battalion Oxfordshire and Buckinghamshire Light Infantry in India from October 1916 to November 1919 and was discharged to Class Reserve the following month.
Edward VII Army Long Service and Good Conduct Medal to a Drummer in the Devon Regiment, EVII issue with impressed naming, “7034 DMR: J. KEOGH. DEVON: REGT”. Good overall condition. James Keogh was born in Allahbad, India and served for 18 years in the Devon Regiment prior to his discharge at the age of 35 in July 1910. For his services he was awarded a 2 clasp India 1895 medal, a Queens South Africa medal with 5 clasps and the Kings South Africa medal with 2 clasps. His Long Service medal was announced I Army Order 254, July 1910. He re-enlisted for service during the Great War serving at home with the London Regiment and Royal Defence Corps. He re-attested in May 1919 and was sent to France for grave exhumations before being finally being discharged as unfit for service on 17th March 1920.

Imperial Yeomanry Long Service and Good Conduct Medal to the Ayrshire Imperial Yeomanry, EVII, “182 CPL D. WILSON AYRSHIRE I.Y.” Medal has been previously broached; broach marks present on the reverse of the medal and claw has been tightened. Medal confirmed in Army Orders, February 1905. 59 medals issued to the unit.

A Great War D.C.M. group of four, awarded to Sergeant J.Wreford, Monmouthshire Regiment, who was decorated for gallant rescue work at Hohenzollern Redoubt in October 1915, although himself wounded. Comprising Distinguisher Conduct Medal, G.V.R. (838 A. Cpl. J. Wreford, 1/1 Mon. Regt. - T.F.): 1914-15 Star (838 Pte. Monmouth. R.): British War and Victory Medals (838 Sjt., Monmouth. R.), contact marks and polished, otherwise generally very fine. (4) Notes: D.C.M. London Gazette 29 November 1915. 'For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty on 13 October 1915, at Hohenzollern Redoubt. Although wounded himself, Corporal Wreford carried several wounded men to the dressing station under heavy shell and machine-gun fire. Regardless of his wound, he continued this gallant work until overcome by sheer exhaustion'. John Wreford was born in 1892 in Newport, Monmouthshire. He was employed as a Ship's Painter when he joined the Territorial Army in March 1909. John Wreford first went to France as a Private in the 1st Battalion, Monmouthshire Regiment in mid-February 1915. An Acting Corporal by the time of his gallant deeds at the Hohenzollern Redoubt at the Battle of Loos that October, the serious nature of his wounds effectively curtailed his active service career, although he rose to the rank of Sergeant prior to being honourably discharged in June 1917.
