Case indicates that the medal comes from Florence and City played Fiorentina on May 13th 1934 drawing 3-3. The medal has a footballer on one side and a lion on a pedestal on the other with 1933-34 inscribed on the pedestal, slight damage to case. Generally good

Ardwick (soon to be Manchester City) defeated Newton Heath (Manchester United) 1-0 in the Final. After Sir Edwin Landseer RA, mid-late 19th century- "A Distinguished Member of the Humane Society"; watercolour, bears monogram and dated 1857, 34x45cm: Note: The Original painted in 1831, and inscribed "Paul Pyr bred by Mr. Phillip Bacon and belonging to Landseer`s cousin. A Stately white dog with a black head and small blaze, waiting to be of assistance to the unwary"; The painting first exhibited in 1838. The distinguished dog in the painting is supposed to be "Bob" according to legend, he was shipwrecked off the coast of England. As a stray, he became well-known along the London waterfront saving people from drowning, There were twenty-three rescues recorded spanning fourteen years, He was declared a distinguished member of the Royal Humane Society which not only entitled him to a medal, but also to food every day. When Sir Edwin Landseer decided to paint Bob in 1837, the dog could not be located, Another Newfoundland, whom Landseer had seen walking down a street in London carrying a message for his mistress, posed for the painting. His name was Paul Pry. Paul Pry was taken to the artist`s studio and placed on a table in the position that we see him in the picture, The artist has placed the faithful dog against a simple background; a dull threatening sky, The light falls beautifully on his white coat. We can almost feel his thick, soft fur and hear him breathe, His dark head stands out. (Newfoundland Club of America)

Captain Henry Wellington Palmer, 74th Highlanders group of three medals comprising; (KCB) The Most Honourable Order of the Bath, neck badge in gold and enamel, The South African medal 1853 and the South Africa medal 1877-8 (RENAMED) (3) Later Major General Henry Palmer CB (1828-1891) Born at Tallaght House, County Dublin the son of major James Palmer Sr. He served with the 74th Highlanders throughout the Kaffer War of 1851-1853. 1864 as major of 90th Regiment of Foot (Perthshire Volunteers). 1868 Stationed in the Punjab, East Indies, 1873 Lt Col, 1878 Major General. Commanded the Regiment from April 1873 to 1878 and retires whereupon he recieved the CB for 30 years service
