OBE Group attributed to a diplomat and Olympic Hurdler in the 1928 Olympic Games in Amsterdam. Born 22.12.1904. Commissioned 27.8.24 Kings Regt Trans Indian Army 27.5.27. Served Political Dept. Baroda & Gujarat States. 1928 -30 Raltray's Sikhs 1930-47 Indian Police Service served in Persian Gulf, N.W. Frontier & Indian States 1949-58 Consul General Muscat. 1961-70 personal advisor to Sultan of Muscat & Oman. Died 1986. Awarded CBE in the 1958 New Years Honours List as H.M. Consul General Muscat. Medal Group mounted as worn OBE (civil) 1939-45 Star, Defence & War Medal, Queens Coronation Medal 1953. Sold with an Army Athletic Association large silver medal for the 120 yards Hurdler 1925 inscribed F.C.L Chauncey with a photo of Chauncey in 1921 with Sports Trophies with the Smales Sports Team Oct 1921. Victory medal awarded to Captain A. U. M. Spottiswoode 1/66th Punjabis attached to 2/6th Gurkha Rifles. BWM & VM issued by the Government of India. The medal is in very dark bronze and weighs 28.1g. as opposed to the normal 29g (approx). It has the appearance of a Type 1 Victory Medal. Naming is correct. Details are less marked than a Type 2 and the barrel & ring appear smaller. It may be just an ordinary Indian example but could be a rare 1st Type! Sold as seen, viewing recommended. (1)
Victory medal officially impressed to 'A.D. Pithie' on full length original ribbon. MIC shows Dr Aleax D. Pithie Civilian Doctor served in Gallipoli. Card is annotated ineligible for 1915 Trio & SWB. Dr Pithie's address is 68, Clarendon Rd. Southsea. Medals claimed on his behalf by Col. A. R. Holbrook MP. of Ashe House, Hants. Great research potential & rare. With MIC. (1)
