J. Powell R.A.M.C in GVF. Lieut A. C. Powell was killed whilst flying 09.11.44 from HMS Condor Sqd 778 (mosquito) in Arbroath on radar training. M.I.D was for Operation `Avalanche` & recognises his contribution having taken part in three invasions N. Africa Sicily & Italy etc. Copy documents GVF.

Plaque & War Medal - Plaque to Joseph Gordon Barrett - this is almost black in appearance. BWM named to 2 Lieut J.G. Barrett. This recipient is also entitled to a Military Cross (not included). He earned this award serving with the N. Lancs Fus. `When in charge of a raiding party he was the 1st to enter the enemy trench he killed & captured another of the enemy. It was due to his dash that the raid was a success` (photo included).

He previously served as Captain 3rd Bttn KOYLI 1902 NEF.
