A Waterloo Medal to 'John Stokes 2nd Batt 69th Foot'.*Notes- The 2nd Battalion 69th (South Lincolnshire) Foot was an inexperienced battalion with very little Peninsula campaign experience. In addition it had a higher percentage of men who had joined ranks underage and many rejoined under the age of twenty at Waterloo. Suffering heavy casualties at Quatre Bras, the 69th were amalgamated with the 33rd to form a square. Private John Stokes was amongst the youngest men in the Company aged only 17. He was from Kidderminster, Worcestershire and had enlisted in 1813. He would go on to serve a total of 23 years, being discharged in 1836.
An Africa and WWI Royal Naval group of five to '270763 P S Smith ERA 3Cl HMS Fox', Africa General Service Medal with Somaliland 1908-10 claps Naval General Service Medal (HMS Lapwing) with Persian Gulf 1909-14 clasp, 1914-15 Star, War Medal and Victory Medal.*Notes- HMS Lapwing was part of the First Destroyer Flotilla and joined the British Grand Fleet at the outbreak of War in 1914. Present at the Battle of Heligoland, Lapwing attempted to tow away the damaged HMS Laertes under heavy fire but the hawser snapped. At the Battle of Dogger Bank, Lapwing shared the prize money for the German armored cruiser Blucher. Lapwing was also present at the Battle of Jutland and took part in the Battle of Jaffa.
A Royal Humane Society Bronze Medal (Successful) to 'Sapper F Mitchell RE April 15 1903', (suspension detached) together with A Royal Humane Society Swimming Proficiency Medal inscribed HMS 'Ganges' both with copies of records. *Notes On the 15th April 1903 at Hamilton Harbour, Bermuda, Sapper Fred Mitchell saved Pte John Fleming of the 3rd Battalion Royal Warwickshire Regiment after he and his horse fell over the wharf. The Annual RHS report for 1885 lists Edwin Ernest Underhill of HMS 'Ganges' as a recipient.

He died of pneumonia, 28th October, 1918.
