French Exhibition Medals (2) for the Paris Exposition Universelle 1900 both named to E. Quellennec, one in silver d.60mm to E. QUELLENNEC, COMMISSION DES TRAVEUX, commemorating the opening of the Suez Canal in 1869 with legend to the Suez Canal Company, by O. Roty, EF with original case, this awarded according to gilt inscription on lid 'EXPOSITION UNIVERSELLE 1900, CLASSE 38, MATERIEL DE LA NAVIGATION DE COMMERCE, COMPAGNIE DU CANAL DE SUEZ, Ed. QUELLENNEC, COLLABORATEUR'. The other medal the bronze issue by Chaplain, to E. QUELLENNEC, EF with original case with gilt lid.
Suffragette Related Medals (2): Society of French Artistes medals d.53.5mm in silvered-bronze Salon de 1929 and gilt-bronze Salon de 1934, both named to the female artist Lily Delissa Joseph, an active Suffragette who whilst imprisoned in Holloway was unable to open an exhibition of her paintings in 1912. She was also the first woman in Britain to own and drive a car, and had some involvement in aviation. The 1929 medal EF holed with suspension ring, and the 1934 one EF with solder remnant 12 o'clock.

Colonel. Charles Faunce Hitchins D.S.O. - Knights of the Round Table silver hallmarked & enamel medal named to Colonel Charles Faunce Hitchins D.S.O., M.I.Mec. E, 1938. This man was also mentioned in Dispatches during WW1. He was Lieut Colonel of 3rd. R.W. Kent Regt., and later 2/5th L.N. LAN. Regt. (1)

Leehany. 1st Btn. 21st Regt), Army LSGCM QV named (2612 Thos Lechany 1st Bn 21st Foot), and Turkish Crimea Medal British Issue, unnamed as issued. With copy service papers, Born Kilronan Co Roscommon, Ireland. Twice tried by Court Martial. (3)
Distinguished Conduct Medal group - DCM KGVI (1068689 L.Sjt. M. Bevan RA). 1939-45 Star, Africa Star + 8th Army bar, Italy Star, Defence & War Medals. DCM L/G 15/10/1942 (Pontypridd). Citation for 2nd Regt RHA, reads 'on 14/6/42 'I' Battery was in action South of Acroma. L/Sgt Bevan was No.1 of a 25 pr gun. At about 0830 hrs enemy tanks advanced from the South and when about 1000 yards from the Tp position they came under direct observation from L/Sgt Bevans gun. L/Sgt Bevan was ordered to engage the enemy tanks gun control. His was the only gun firing in the Tp and in consequence the enemy concentrated their fore on his gun. For about one hour L/Sgt Bevan continued to engage the enemy tanks over open sights. Every time the enemy tried to come on they were forced back to a hull down position. Several direct hits were scored. Two of L/Sgt Bevans detachment were killed and two wounded during this action. L/Sgt Bevan showed a fine disregard for danger and was an inspiration to the remainder of his detachment'.

DCM L/G 25 August 1917 'For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty in repeatedly repairing wireless apparatus under heavy shell fire and at great personal risk. On the last occasion he was Wounded in 8 places, and lost his left arm in the execution of his duty, setting a magnificent example of fearless devotion'. ISM L/G 11/4/1958 (Assistant Superintendent, Post Office, Liverpool). Belgium Medal L/G 24th September 1917. Born West Derby, Liverpool. Note: Only 92 DCM's awarded to the RFC. Original DSM & Victory Medals very polished. The lot includes his Zeebrugge 1918 Ass pin badge, several photos/postcards, RNVR Certificate of Service, Wounds Certificate for Zeebrugge 23/4/1918. Received Naval Prize Bounty for Jutland. Born St Johns Bristol. And a copy of The Zeebrugge Raid 1918 by Paul Kendall which has a bio of Summerhayes. Plus Saint George the Martyr book Vice Admiral Sir Roger Keyes, and related knapkin ring, newspaper cutting, etc. (qty)
