Valentino Panciera Besarel (Italian, 1829-1902), a fine pair of carved fruitwood (possibly lime?) Cherubic Figures, both winged Cherubs of plump form with one carrying a lyre and both raised upon an integral tapering fluted socle terminating in an octagonal plinth base; both signed and stamped 'V. Besarel Venezia' and marked in ink to the underside April 1897; one Cherub with hand now away (clean break) and end of baton in right hand now missing, each of very fine quality and patination and approx. 37cm high, Valentino Besarel was born in Zoldo, near Bellune which is the home town of the 17th Century Master Carver Andrea Brustolon (1662-1732). The Besarel family had been wood carvers for generations having achieved some fame with carving in local churches. After training with his father Valentino studied under Belluno Antonio Federici. He established himself in Venice in the 1860s where he opened an atelier and shop. He soon distinguished himself as a creator of exquisite sculpture and furniture for wealthy private patrons and the Royal Courts receiving commissions from clients such as Edward Prince of Wales, the British Consul Layard and the Kindg of Italy. Valentine exhibited at the 1878 Paris Universelle Exposition, where he won a gold medal, and the churches of Este and Conselve, near Padua contain many groups of saints carved by this Artist CONDITION REPORT: Carved fruitwood (possibly lime?), may even be boxwood - sorry not sure.

Tommy Harmer, Tottenham, a collection of 7 items awarded to or won by Tommy, 1947/48 Inter Army Medal, Winners British Army, 1950 A Medal in recognition of Tottenham's tour of Berlin, plus an envelope opener, A London Football Association Challenge Cup Medal, 2 unknown tokens, and what appears to be a 1946/47 Runners Up, A League Junior Medal
1912 FA Cup Final, Barnsley, a gold winners medal, awarded to George Edward (Paddy) Travers, Barnsley beat West Bromwich Albion by one goal to nil, in Extra Time of a replay at Bramall Lane, Sheffield. George Travers was born at Newtown, Birmingham, on 4th November 1888, the much travelled inside forward played for a great variety of League and Non-League clubs either side of the great war. He arrived at Barnsley in 1911 via Bilston Utd, Rowley Utd, Wolves, Birmingham, Aston Villa, QPR, and Leicester. He made a total of 84 League appearances for Barnsley, and scored 21 goals, he was transferred to Manchester Utd in 1914 and later played for Swindon, Millwall, Norwich City, Gillingham, Nuneaton, Cradley Heath St Lumes and returning to Bilston Utd. After his football he went to New Zealand, briefly returned to the UK, contracted TB on his return to Birmingham, and then returned again to New Zealand where he died on 31/08/1946. The vendor of the 15ct Gold Medal, which is engraved, discovered the medal in New Zealand, a few years ago, a superb item.
1983/84 Oxford United, a Football League Division Three (Canon), Gold Winners Medal, as awarded to Mick Vinter, in original box, the Football League, as manufactured by Vaughtons of Birmingham (this is the 'old' style medal, not to be confused with the medallion given to the players on the pitch). Mick Vinter, joined Notts county from Boston United in March 1971, a big favourite at Meadow Lane he scored 53 goals for Notts County in 135 appearances, before being transferred to Wrexham for £150,000, then followed his spell at Oxford United, he retired from the game in 1986
Sir Peter Markham Scott (British, 1909-1989):Geese in flight over marshes, oil on canvas, signed lower right & dated 1935, H 49 x W 74 cm. Provenance: Label verso for Arthur Ackermann & Son. Note: The present picture is a significant early example of the work of the artist who held his first exhibition in London in 1933. A year after its execution, the multi-talented Scott was to represent Great Britain at sailing in the 1936 Berlin Olympic Games, winning a bronze medal in the O-Jolle dinghy class. GARBUTT 22/DURH.L.I, together with a photograph of Robert "Bobbie" Garbutt of the Durham Light Infantry taken on 1/10/18, photocopy of his birth certificate, badges, commemorative medallions, white metal open faced pocket watch, a copy of Miles (Captain Wilfred) The Durham Forces in the Field 1914-14, published 1920, which refers to Sergt R Garbutt, who received the bravery medal for his involvement in the digging of communication trenches, (Pages 128- 131) etc

Rev: royal arms and supporters with GREAT EXHIBITION OF THE INDUSTRY OF ALL NATIONS LONDON legend and date. BCM 1463; BHM 2459. 17.23 grams, 38mm. Taylor was an exhibitor at the Great Exhibition, demonstrating his screw-press on which this medal was struck. [No Reserve] Good very fine; with lustre.

Property of an Essex, UK collector; acquired London art market, 1960s-1980s. Jacques-Édouard Gatteaux (1788-1881) was a French sculptor and medal engraver who became an officer of the Légion d'honneur. Édouard Pingret (1785-1869) was a French painter and lithographer, famed for his portraits of Napoleon Bonaparte. [3, No Reserve] Very fine condition.
