(Milit), 1939-45 Star, Africa Star (8th Army Clasp), Italy Star, Defence Medal, 1939-45 War Medal (MID), GSM (Palestine 1945-48), EIIR Coronation. Lt. Col. Danby was mentioned in dispatches for service in Italy, and his home town was Lymington.

The discrepancy in the naming of the SCLS is explained by the fact that the recipient bore both the names Hope and Dopson, favouring the latter in later years.

Minotaur 9.2 inch B.L.), mounted for wearing; together with the recipient's original certificate of service, a copy of a photograph of the recipient in uniform and wearing his medals, various gunnery and torpedo history sheets and other certificates, and a small medallion commemorating the Battle of Jutland. The service record shows the recipient as serving onboard HMS St Vincent at the time of the Battle of Jutland.
