A George V Meritorius Service Medal named to WR-100011 2.Cpl A.C.S.Mjr H Barlow RE. Pte Herbert Barlow served with the Lancashire Fusiliers in France from 22nd August 1914. He transferred to the Royal Engineers in May 1916, with whom he was awarded his Meritorius Service Medal. He resided in Manchester and his MSM was awarded on page 12764 Gazette 31602 14th October 1919.

Also a Victory Medal named to 67199 Pte C H Budden Worcs Regt. Whilst serving with the 2nd Battalion Dorsetshire Regiment, Pte Budden was Killed in Action 15/8/1916, aged 25 years. The son of Charles and Mary Budden of 66 Capstone Road, Bournemouth. Buried in Baghdad ( North Gate) War Cemetery Iraq. Plot 21. Row H. Grave 20. Iraq-8. Shown on the MIC as serving in 5A Theatre of War (Asiatic) from 6/11/14. Conflictingly the Died of Disease date is given as 29/4/1916. The Regimental History shows Died 15/9/1916. Presumably as a Prisoner of War after the fall of Kut. His brother? Charles H Budden was awarded a Silver War Badge, List L/A/1695.

A Death Plaque named to Frederick Robert Ham, also a Victory Medal to 2653 Pte F Ham Hamps R. Sergeant Frederick Robert Ham of the 1st/4th Battalion of the Hampshire Regt was aged 20 years , his date of death was on the 24/7/1915. He is buried in Basra War Cemetery, the son of William & Elisabeth Ham of Todden Villa, Windsor Berks. He was Mentioned in Despatches on the 5th April 1916. Page 3663. 4-2653 and 200654 Pte Frank Ham served in the Hampshire Regt TF and in Theatre 5A (Asiatic) from 18/3/1915. Entitled to a 1914/15 Trio, his MIC record states 'died.'

A GV1 Special Constabulary Medal named to Thomas R C Stanton, with two additional bars. Long Service 1944 and Long Service 1950. Commissioned 2/Lt 26/April/1917 Hampshire Regt. Lieut 1/7th Hampshire (T/F). 26th October 1918. Later part of the 35th Indian Brigade, thence the 14th Indian Division. (India & Aden). Thomas Ronald Charles Stanton of the Hampshire Regt served from September 1918. He was promoted to Lt, before the war ended. Address for his Medals was C/O Barclays Bank , 41 Lowther road, Bournemouth.

A WELSH REGT CASUALTY TRIO. A 1914/15 Star, British War Medal & Victory Medal named to 22316 Pte G Way Welsh R. Gordon Way served with his Regiment in France from the 2nd December 1915. He Died of Wounds on the 20th August 1918. Gordon Way was serving in the 14th Battalion the Welsh Regiment and was 20 years old when he Died of Wounds received in action. Buried in Terlincthun British Cemetery Wimille Pas de Calais. The son of Frank and Ellen Way of 13 Glen View, Pentwyn Fochow. South Wales. He would have joined up under age as he was 16 or 17 years old when he was serving in France.

Defence Medal unnamed as issued. 1935 Jubilee & 1937 Coronation Medals, unnamed as issued. Territorial Decoration GV (1920), the eight mounted for wear. Maurice Woodman Emley was commissioned as a 2/Lt into the Newcastle Upon Tyne Volunteers (Telegraph Company) in 1907. (Northumbrian Division). He served in France from the 17th January 1915 with the rank of Captain 2nd May 1913. (5th Signal coy RE) In 1918 he served with the Corps of Signals, with the rank of Major from the 8th October 1918. Brevet Lt Colonel and Colonel 3rd November 1925. In 1921 he is serving as a Lt Colonel with the 3rd London Signals, later Anti Aircraft (Air Defence of London) 3rd November 1921. Awarded the OBE (Military) in the London Gazette 1/1/1919 Awarded the Territorial Decoration in the London Gazette 19/3/1920 Gazette 31832 Page 3528. His forwarding of Gt War Medals address was given as. 53, New Bond Street, London, EC2.

The son of William and Sarah Jane Tibbs of 37, Elcam Avenue, Blaenavon, Monmouthshire, he was serving in the 16th Battalion Royal Welch Fusiliers at that time. Buried in Plot 4, Row F, Grave 20, Caudry British Military Cemetery, France. Originally No 60121, then No 94178 when transferred to the RWF. MIC details confirm a pair only.

MIC lists him as being awarded the India General Service (1908) Medal and Afghanistan NWF 1919 Clasp. His address is given then as a barracks at Ambala India.

He was awarded the Silver War Badge and Discharged under Para 392 XV1 on the 23rd of August 1918. His medals were sent to him at 62, Ethnard Rd, Old Kent Road, London. S.E.

A 'BURMA RAILWAY' NORFOLK REGT CASUALTY GROUP. 1939/45 & Pacific Stars, War Medal in a box of issue with address removed. Inset in the lid is 557334 Pte Alfred Douglas Bryant, 4th Bn The Royal Norfolk Regiment. KIA 21/6/1943. Kanchaniaburi War Cemetery Thialand. (Thailand) Plot 2 Row 1 Grave 76. The KIA details are actually unlikely, more so Died of Disease amid the torrid conditions of those building the Burma Railway. Presumably captured at Hong Kong, he survived for over two years. (Pacific Medal) The Cemetery is full of men recovered from their Railside Graves, brought together in this and other post war burials/recovered victims. The Cemetery is near to the infamous Kanburi Camp, where POW's were sent out on work details. Over 13,000 were to lose their lives, on the Death Railway. Condolence slip reads Pte A D Bryant. Parents were Alfred Francis and Alma Bryant of Wilton, Wiltshire. Also a War Medal in a box of issue, sent to A Y Bryant (Miss) RAF. Addressed to her at 8, The Avenue, Wilton, Salibury, Wilts. (Sister?)

His MIC states Discharged, though no mention of SWB or the suchlike. His first MID appeared in the London Gazette page 6000 22/6/1915. His second MID is given the dates 31/12/15 or 1/1/1916 page 50. He was awarded the Star and Roses, confirmed on his MIC.

Entitled to a Star. The Torpedo Gunboat (HMS Niger) was sunk off Deal by U-12 under Commandant Walther Forstmann. A Great War U Boat Ace.

Fenwick Del designer, Soldier and a Sailor each side of a Flag, with The Queen God Bless Her, below. The reverse has Shields with Unified In The Cause of Freedom, We Defend Our Empire above in a scroll, we serve under One crown. The round cardboard case has a label inset in the inner lid. Vice Regal Lodge Dublin. April 25th 1900. 'Sir, I am desired by the Queen to thank you for the Gold Medal Commemorative of The Boer War, which you have been good enough to offer for presentation, to Her Majesty. The Queen is much pleased with the design and the execution of the medal. Yours Faithfully Arthur Bigge. Arthur Bigge was Private Secretary to the Sovereign 1895-1901. A General Service Medal QE11 with bar Borneo, named to Mjr O Crocopmbe RA. A Staff Qualified Officer (sq). Oliver Crocombe Born 5/31928 served in the ranks for 261 days, before receiving an Emergency Commission. as a 2/Lt 23/7/1948. Regular Army 2/Lt 5/3/1949. Lt 15/3/1950 Capt 5/3/1955 Major 5/3/1962 Shown as still serving in 1972. The Medals are mounted for wear and have a matching miniature group, also mounted for wear.

A ROYAL IRISH REGT - MILITARY FOOT POLICE TRIO. A 1914 Star named to 5-2842 L/Cpl M Kirrane R Ir Regt. British War and Victory Medals named to 2842--M Kirrane R.Ir.Regt. Lance Corporal Kirrane returned his Star in a naming error (Kirram) and was sent a correct one in May 1921. He was then sent his pair which had the wrong rank on them, he etched out the rank of Pte. One suspects he possibly gave up on His Majesty's Medal naming service. He was also by then serving with The Military Foot Police. under number P10786. He served with the Royal Irish Regiment in Theatre 2A (Serbia-Macedonia-Gallipoli) from the 8th July 1915. His MIC shows the revised award naming, he endured on the double entry indexes.

A HIGHLAND SOCIETY MEDAL IN SILVER 1801. A Highland Society medal for the Egypt Campaign of 1801, under General Sir Ralph Abercromby. He commanded the landings at Aboukir Bay in March 1801 against strong French opposition. On the night of the 21st march the French made a surprise attack on the British Camp, General mAbercromby was hit by a ricochet and died aboard the Flagship, seven days later. Silver awards were mainly to senior officers and those who distinguished themselves in the Campaign. This example is unnamed as issued, with the Highland Society London around the rim. GT WAR MEDALS TO OFFICERS. British War & Victory Medals named to Capt G G Feeney, in boxes of issue. Gilbert Grace Feeney served in France from the 5th February 1917 as a 2/Lt then later as a Captain (T/Major). 2/Lt 19th January 1917 Lt 12th May 1918 Capt 19th July 1918. Rtd 1920 When he applied for his Medals his address was given as the The Divisional Surveyors Office, Bunmow, Essex. A boxed British War Medal awarded to Payr.S.Lt P Bunting R N V R. (Percy) At some time in 1918 he was attached to the Royal air Force (Temporary) Awarded a BWM only under Spec 176, he is on a 1923 list for a LSGC medal, though this is not confirmed. (3) He served on HMS President until being Demobilised in 1919.

The Civic Medal (Belgian) appears to be the second class award in silver finish, with Gt War ribbon and 1914-15 Bar. Crossed swords suspender below medal ring mount.

TROPICAL & SERVICE DRESS LI UNIFORMS, CROSSBELT & HAT. A Light Infantry Officers Service Dress and Tropical Dress uniforms, both with trousers. Both have the medal ribbon bars for CSM and UN medals. Green dress hat with bullion peak, plated crossbelt and chains etc.

MEDALS TO THE LAW FAMILY IN WW1 & WW11. A 1914/15 Trio to the father, 1743 Cpl J Law KRRC. British War & Victory Medals named to 1743 Sjt J Law KRRC. Serving in France from 18th May 1915, later as a Sjt in the Machine Gun Corps, later still as a Sjt attached the Kings African Rifles. His sons WW11 group of three medals, all unnamed as issued. 1939/45 & Africa Stars, War Medal. Able Seaman CJX335709 James Frederick Law born C1923, the son of James and Evelyn Florence Law of Peckham London. Killed in Action serving on SS Benalbarach sunk off Algiers January 7th 1943, with the loss of 410 lives. The younger son of James and Evelyn Law born in 1927, joined the Royal navy as a Boy 2nd Class in February 1942. Awarded the 1939/45 Star, Atlantic & Burma Stars, the latter with Pacific bar. Photocopied details of Frank Lionel Law's Naval service 1942-47 are with the group.

A GT WAR TRIO TO THE KINGS OWN SCOTTISH BORDERERS. A 1914/15 Star, British War & Victory Medals in envelopes and boxes of issue named to 16062 Pte R Roughsedge K O Sco Bord. Robert Roughsedge served with the 8th Battalion KOSB in France from the 10th July 1915. The medal envelopes are addressed to Mr R Roughsedge, 5 Egerton Grove, Stratford Road, Hulme, Manchester. He was awarded a Silver War Badge List D/85 and discharged from service, under order (392) 28th April 1916.
