France, Exposition Universelle Internationale, Paris 1878, large bronze medal, by Eugene Andre Oudine, Marianne stands with Mercury and Godesses of the Arts and Industry, naked female figure reclines below, rev. infant genii hold up plan of the Exhibition, 86mm, in fitted case of issue to Samuel Morley, Esq. M.P.. Extremely fine. Provenance: Hall Place, Leigh, Kent, sold on the instructions of the Executors of Sonja, Lady Hollenden Samuel Morley (1809-1886), was an English woollen manufacturer, philanthropist, dissenter, abolitionist, political radical, and statesman. He married Rebekah Maria Hope, daughter of Samuel Hope of Liverpool. Their eldest son Samuel became Governor of the Bank of England and was elevated to the peerage as Baron Hollenden in 1912.
William Shakespeare, silver medal for the Shakespeare Jubilee of 1769 by Westwood of Birmingham, draped bust of Shakespeare and inscription from Hamlet, Act I, Scene 2 (We shall not look upon his like again), the reverse with inscription: Jubilee at Stratford in honour and to the memory of Shakespeare. Septr. 1769. D[avid]. G[arrick] Steward (obverse slightly tarnished), diameter 32mm, with silver gilt suspension mount. Very fine David Garrick was head steward at the Jubilee of 1769, which began with an oratorio and continued with a solemn procession and various performances. Present at the Jubilee was James Boswell (1740-1795), who described the medal in a letter to The London Magazine, September 1769, pp. 451-54. Specimens were also made in silver and copper.

R.., comprising: George V Military Medal, 1914-15 Star, War Medal and Victory Medal; and Elizabeth II General Service Medal, clasp Borneo (5) The 13th battalion of the York and Lancaster Regiment was known as the 1st Barnsley Pals.
An early 18th century carved and stained wood figure of a victorious warrior queen in the manner of Laurent Delvaux, the monarch standing on rocky base strewn with a crown and a ribbon tied garter medal with a Maltese cross, she supports a sword in her right hand and holds a scroll in her left and wearing a laurel crown, probably personifying Victory, possibly Flemish or French, 68.7cm high. Provenance: Purchased from Colefax & Fowler in the early 1980s.
A Victorian taxidermied snowfinch by F. W. Wilson, in a naturalistic setting, with a green printed label inscribed 'F. W. WILSON, Estab.1852, Naturalist, Plumassier and Furrier, WESTGATE HOUSE, High Street, Sydenham, Prize Medal 1862', in a glazed domed case, with traced of gilding to the wood base, 32.1cm diameter.
