WW2 British Officers Service Dress Uniform of Captain K Berry Royal Artillery, standard four pocket officers service dress tunic with brass regimental buttons, bronze officers service dress collar badges, metal rank pips and medal ribbons for service in the Far East. Accompanied by matching service dress trousers. Remains in generally good condition. Vendor acquired this uniform from Captain Berry’s family and a copy of a photograph of him wearing this actual tunic will accompany the lot.
WW1 British 02 Pattern Other Ranks Service Dress Tunic, fine example of a khaki wool four pocket other ranks 1902 pattern service dress tunic with regimental buttons of the Royal Engineers to the front and pockets. RE brass shoulder titles and felt white over blue signallers arm bands, signallers trade badge and chevron to the lower sleeve. Other sleeve with three overseas service chevrons. British war medal and allied victory medal ribbon above the breast pocket indicating wear in the Post WW1 years, probably as part of the army of occupation. Partial white lined interior to the tunic. Generally a good example.
Boer War Medal Pair to the Railway Pioneer Regiment, Queens South Africa medal with three clasps, Cape Colony, Orange Free State and Transvaal, “874 PTE. W. DONALD RLY: PNR: REGT” with Kings South Africa medal with 2 clasps, South Africa 1901 and South Africa 1902, “874 PTE. W. DONALD RLY: PNR: REGT”. William Donald attested for service on 11th January 1900 and was discharged at Johannesburg on 10th January 1902. He is confirmed on the 1st Railway Pioneer Regiment roll for both medals and clasps.
Edwardian Royal Navy Long Service Medal to a Ships Steward, Royal Navy Long Service and Good Conduct medal, EVII, “T.W. SARGENT, SH. STEWD H.M.S. MILDURA”. Thomas William Sargent was born in Minster on the Isle of Sheppey, Kent, on 3rd July 1871 and joined the Royal Navy as a Ships Steward Boy on 3rd December 1886. He qualified for his Long Service medal on 16th August 1904 and was discharged in July 1914. The outbreak of war the following month led to his mobilisation on 2nd August 1914 and was finally demobilised on 6th June 1921 having earnt a 1914-15 trio for his war service.
Sole Entitlement Victorian Army Long Service & Good Conduct Medal to the Royal Engineers, Army Long Service and Good Conduct medal, VR, 3rd issue, small letter reverse, impressed naming “3368 CORPL R. BLACKBOURN, RL ENGRS” 1 small edge knock. 20 year old Richard Blackbourn from Hull attested for the Royal Engineers on 7th August 1855. Her served for 21 years and 16 days of which 11 years and 183 days were spent in Gibraltar with the 25th Company. His Long Service medal was confirmed in in Aug 1875 and he was discharged on 22nd August 1876 with this being his only medal entitlement.
Medal Group of Three to a Private in the Northamptonshire Yeomanry who then Served as an Officer in the Home Guard During the Second World War, British War and Victory medals, “1956 PTE. C.R. GREEN NORTH’N YEO”, Defence medal in named carboard box of issue, “MAJOR C R GREEN, 18 HAWTHORN ROAD, KETTERING, NORTHANTS” with issue slip for a single medal. With Great War period photograph of Trooper Green in uniform on horseback, some loss to the top of the photo. Charles Reginald Green was born on 1st December 1896 in Far Cotton, Northampton. He was awarded a pair of medals for his Great War service and post war he worked for the railway, information with the medals indicates he was a Ticket Inspector at Kettering station. During the Second World War he served as a Major in the Home Guard. He died in Kettering in April 1970.
Great War Medal Pair to an Officer in the Royal Army Service Corps Attached to the Royal Air Force, British War and Victory medals, “2. LIEUT. G.C.P. BIRCH”. Geoffrey Cecil Perigrine Birch was born in Kettering in October 1884, during the Great War he served with the 10th Battalion Royal Fusiliers (service number STK/30) landing in France on 14th August 1915 qualifying for the 1914-15 star. Commissioned on 10th November 1915 into the Royal Army Service Corps his records also indicate he was on attachment to the Royal Air Force. He died in Chichester in October 1933.
Queens South Africa Medal to the 1st Battalion Leicestershire Regiment, medal with two clasps Talana and Defence of Ladysmith. Awarded to ‘4468 PTE G CUNNINGTON 1: LEIC R’. Ghost dates to the reverse. Impressed naming. Georg Cunnington, a Farm Labourer from Kings Cliffe, Stamford, Lincolnshire, attested for service in the Leicestershire Regiment at Leicester on 27th September 1895. He spent 7 years with the colours and 5 years in the Army Reserve, promoted Corporal on 3rd March 1902 he was discharged on 26th September 1911. He served in South Africa from 24th September 1897 until 16th December 1900 and is confirmed as entitled to the Queens medal with these 2 clasps.

HETHERINGTON SEA HIGHRS”, British War and Victory medals “MAJOR F.H. HETHERINGTON”. Generally good condition. Military Cross, London Gazette 1st January 1918 - Awarded the Military Cross - T./Lt (A /Capt) Francis Herbert Hetherington, Sea Highrs. Also served in the Royal Engineers and applied for his medals in December 1925 from Monteal, Canada, returning to the UK in May 1933.

LAW R.W. KENT R.” small edge bruise to number, 1939-45 Star medal, Africa Star medal, Italy Star medal, Defence medal, War medal 1939-45, all unnamed as issued, Efficiency medal, EIIR, with Territorial Suspender, “22297613 CPL J.S. LAW R.E.M.E.”, Malta George Cross 50th Anniversary Commemorative medal. Group mounted as worn on a pin back ribbon bar. Served with the 2nd Battalion Royal West Kent Regiment during the Palestine campaign, 6344149 S.J Law is shown as being wounded on Casualty List 1358, 2nd February 1944. The Efficiency medal was announced on List 172, 29th May 1992. Due to the 53 year span between qualifying for the Palestine medal and the issue of the Efficiency medal we are unsure if this is a group to one person or a family group to 2 recipients.

LARKHAM A.S.C.”, Kings South Africa medal with 2 clasps, South Africa 1901 and South Africa 1902, “13884 CORPL G. LARKHAM A.S.C.”, 1914-15 Star medal, “13884 SJT. (A. C.S MJR) G.J. LARKHAM A.S.C.”, British War and Victory medals, “SS-13884 W.O.CL.2 G.J. LARKHAM A.S.C.” and Defence medal, unnamed as issued. Group mounted for wearing on pin back bar. Both Boer War medals and clasps are confirmed on the relevant rolls (No29 Company A.S.C). Great War medals are confirmed on the medal index card. George John Larkham was born in Deal, Kent and attested or service in the Oxfordshire Light Infantry in December 1892 and was discharged by purchase in January 1895. On 13th May 1898 he attested for the Army Service Corps and served through to his discharge on 28th December 1919, having completed almost 22 years which included 6 years and 5 months in South Africa and 3 years and 2 months overseas with the B.E.F. His records do not show any entitlement to any Long Service medal and this may be due to the fact that he was tried by Court Martial in January 1915 due to drunkenness on active service being reduced to the rank of Sergeant. On discharge he gave his intended place of residence as Basingstoke, Hampshire and 1939 he is recorded as being an Army Pensioner in Highclere, Hampshire with the additional responsibility of being an A.R.P. Warden, a responsibility that would have most likely qualified him for the Defence medal. 71 year old George Larkham died in the 2nd quarter of 1944.

Joseph O’Boyle served in France from 8th November 1914 and as discharged to Class Z Army Reserve on 10th December 1919.

Indian Mutiny Medal to the 61st (South Gloucestershire) Regiment for the Capture of Delhi, medal with clasp Dehli, impressed naming, “W GREER. 61ST REGT”. Good example. William Greer, medal and clasp confirmed on the roll to the 61st Regiment with the comment ‘Died 11 June 1858’. Please note that transcribed copies of the medal roll have him listed as William Green but he is shown as Greer of the original copy of the roll.

Josef Weissenborn, award document to both black and silver grade of the wound badge; Eastern front campaign medal award document 8.8.1942; Westwall medal award document 30.9.1940. The grouping comes with the bullet that caused the injury making him receive both wound badges.
WW1 British Royal Engineers Staff Colonels Uniform, consisting of four pocket service dress tunic with regimental tunic buttons. Gorget collar patches and rank insignia to the shoulder straps. Above breast pocket is medal ribbon bar for the Military Cross and 1914-15 star. Single bullion wound stripe to one sleeve and four years overseas service chevrons to the other. Attached to the arm is staff officers wool armband. Interior of the tunic with lower shell dressing pocket. Collar with tailors label having inked name of the original owner, but this is not clear. Tunic is accompanied by his original staff colonels peaked cap with bullion wire to the peak, bullion embroidered cap insignia, thin patent chinstrap and gilt metal side buttons. Cap is complete with the original khaki cloth cover. Interior with tan leather sweatband and crimson cloth lining. Some mothing to the central band. Also comes with officers Sam Browne belt and cross strap.
Full Entitlement Medal Group of Three for Service in Both the Boer War and Great War, Rifle Brigade & Ox and Bucks Light Infantry, Queens South Africa medal, ghost dates on reverse with clasps Transvaal and Laing’s Nek, engraved naming, “5718 PTE H PIESLEY RIFLE BDE”, Kings South Africa medal with 2 clasps, South Africa 1901 and South Africa 1902, impressed naming, “5718 PTE. H. PIESLEY RIFLE BRIGADE”, British War medal, “20467 PTE. H. PIESLEY OXF. & BUCKS L.I.” Medals and clasps confirmed on the relevant rolls and British War medal is confirmed as his full entitlement for the Great War. Change of service number is confirmed on his service records. Henry Piesley, an 18 year old groom from Hammersmith, London, attested for service in the Rifle Brigade on 2nd April 1898. He was discharged to class B reserve on 1st April 1910 on termination of his period of engagement. During the Great War he served with the 1st Garrison Battalion Oxfordshire and Buckinghamshire Light Infantry in India from October 1916 to November 1919 and was discharged to Class Reserve the following month.
Edward VII Army Long Service and Good Conduct Medal to a Drummer in the Devon Regiment, EVII issue with impressed naming, “7034 DMR: J. KEOGH. DEVON: REGT”. Good overall condition. James Keogh was born in Allahbad, India and served for 18 years in the Devon Regiment prior to his discharge at the age of 35 in July 1910. For his services he was awarded a 2 clasp India 1895 medal, a Queens South Africa medal with 5 clasps and the Kings South Africa medal with 2 clasps. His Long Service medal was announced I Army Order 254, July 1910. He re-enlisted for service during the Great War serving at home with the London Regiment and Royal Defence Corps. He re-attested in May 1919 and was sent to France for grave exhumations before being finally being discharged as unfit for service on 17th March 1920.

WILSON AYRSHIRE I.Y.” Medal has been previously broached; broach marks present on the reverse of the medal and claw has been tightened. Medal confirmed in Army Orders, February 1905. 59 medals issued to the unit.
