Harvey dashed at the enemy and bayoneted one man and drove the rest out of the trench, holding the position single-handled, with rapid fire, for a quarter of an hour until the remainder of the section returned and re-established themselves. It was splendid example of individual courage and staunch resolution, and he prevented the enemy from getting a dangerous footing in the trench'.

A.F.C. Pilot to the Royal Family, Distinguished Flying Cross dated 1958, Air Force Cross, dated 1954, Defence medal, War medal and General Service medal with Malaya clasp, General Service medal named to (FLT LT J.H. LIVERSIDGE R.A.F.) together with a collection of objects now including his log books numbered 1-8, no 1 being his 1943 -1945 cadet log book, 7-8 to spanning 1943-1967, a book of condolence and remembrance (including condolence cards from members of the Royal family and dignitaries), two albums containing photographs of the Royal family, two personal unpublished photograph albums of his time in USA including one of him receiving his wings, graduation day Falcon Field, Mesa, Arizona, two framed photographs of Queen Elizabeth the Queen mother with Ft Lt Liversidge in the cockpit and a group photograph of the Queens Flight group dated 1967 by Gillam and Soame of Oxford, newspaper cuttings, ephemera, an invitation to Buckingham palace 1963, a letter from Lord Mountbatten thanking him for a pleasant flight to Henlow and then to Stansted Park 1963. another letter from Lt Gen Sir Edric M Bastyan KBECB of Hong Kong 1957. pilots wrist compass, The Queen's Flight silver salver, a silver cigarette box inscribed "Presented to Flt Lt J.H. On the 7th December Whirlwind XR487 was en route to Yeovil, where a meeting was to be held to discuss the VVIP Wessex, when the main rotor-shaft snapped and the helicopter crashed at Brightwalton Berks. The accident resulted in the deaths of the crew, Squadron Leader J H Liversidge DFC, AFC and Flight Lieutenant R Fisher, and the passengers, Air Commodore J H L Blount DFC, the captain of the Queens’s Flight, and Squadron Leader M W Hermon, the Flight’s Engineering Officer. NOTE Supplement to London Gazette page 1587 Flying Officer J H Liversidge 150493 was on short service commission in the RAF 1951. Flt lt J H Liversidge was awarded the AFC in 1954 in RAF Little Rissington central Flying School, DFC possibly awarded when with the Queens Flight, 194 Squadron Malaya. A news clipping announces his marriage to Mona Ward in Mexborough, the RAF award to Fl Lt Jack H Liversidge of the AFC whilst stationed at Cirencester, the youngest son of Mr & Mrs G Liversidge, he had been a former pupil at Rotherham Technical College and had been a draughtsman at Baker & Bessemer's Kilnhurst steel works before he joined the RAF in WW2, he rejoined the steelworks for four years before rejoining the RAF.

World War I Imperial German Navy grouping to include a rare Imperial German Naval Aviators Commemorative badge, probably by the maker Schaper, this badge was attached to a small wooden plaque for display purposes and the retention clasp for the pin has been straightened out to facilitate this though this could easily be returned to its original shape, it is also possible the original pin has been replaced, together with a Federation Aeronautique Internationale Deutschland pilots booklet stamped 4th June 1913 in the name of Ernst Sprenger, a photo of Sprenger in the uniform of a naval lieutenant, a photo at his wedding wearing decorations, dated 2/7/27, a photo of Sprenger with another officer dated March 1916, and another of Sprenger in the uniform of a Luftwaffe Oberstleutnant (Lieutenant Colonel), also included is a medal ribbon bar of Imperial and Third Reich decorations (including 1914 Iron Cross second class with 1939 clasp ,Oldenburg Friederich-August Kreuz, 1914-18 Cross of Honour with swords for combatants, Prussian Republic life saving medal, Luftwaffe long service medals for 4 and 12 years, and the 1st October 1938 commemorative medal for the German occupation of Czechoslovakia) the ribbon bar and badge or similar versions can be seen in the photos of Sprenger. This grouping was given to the vendor by Ernst Sprenger's daughter Inga who became a very close friend of the vendors mother during the 1960's. Interestingly they still have a part of the propeller from an aircraft Sprenger crashed in when apparently on his maiden flight (Qty)
