Boer War Officer in the Glen Gray Native Levy together with WWI family grouping to a Cape Colonial service family. Queens South African Medal, two bars: Cape Colony and Wittenbergen. Correctly named to '555 Pte H C B Parker Queenstown Rifle Volunteers' and his single bilingual issue Victory medal impressed to 'Cpl H C B Parker SANLC'. Cpl Parker?s Queens medal was issued off the Queenstown Rifle Vol. roll, however, he later served as Lieutenant in the Glen Gray Native Levy, under the name Bland Parker. Lieut. Bland Parker is recorded as serving with B Squadron, Glen Gray Native Levy on the medal roll, together with a comment to state his medal was issued from the Queenstown RV roll. Glen Gray is a scare unit with only a few officers and non-commissioned officers. WWI pair of British War Medal and Victory Medal awarded to Cpl. W J T Parker SANCL. W J T Parker served in the Boer War with the Cape Colony Defence Department as a Clerk under the Secretary for Defence. No medals were issued for his Boer War although its service as it is stated that he is entitled to the Bronze Queens medal. (rare comment for issue of Bronze QSA medal) . This is an interesting family grouping of an old Cape family in colonial service.

Most Excellent Order of the British Empire is a British order of chivalry, rewarding contributions to the arts and sciences, work with charitable and welfare organisations, and public service outside the civil service. It was established on 4 June 1917 by King George V and comprises five classes across both civil and military divisions, the most senior two of which make the recipient either a Knight, if male, or Dame, if female. There is also the related British Empire Medal, whose recipients are affiliated with, but not members of the order. Recommendations for appointments to the Order of the British Empire were originally made on the nomination of the United Kingdom, the self-governing Dominions of the Empire (later Commonwealth) and the Viceroy of India. Nominations continue today from Commonwealth countries that participate in recommending British (Imperial) honours. Most Commonwealth countries ceased recommendations for appointments to the Order of the British Empire when they created their own honours. From the suspender and finish, this award is post 1950 award and more than likely an EIIR award.
