A Football Association of Wales hallmarked silver and enamel fob medal with inscription to reverse 'FA of Wales Amateur Cup Runners Up Barmouth 1920', diameter 2.5cm; the final result is listed as Caerau 4, Barmouth Comrades 1. CONDITION REPORT: Surface wear throughout including scratches and pitting to the enamel, general surface scratches, nicks, gouges commensurate with age throughout.
A Military General Service Medal awarded to John Wilkinson 7th Foot with eight bars for Toulouse, Orthes, Pyrenees, Vittoria, Salamanca, Badajoz, Albuhera and Talavera, on replacement ribbon. CONDITION REPORT: Some small edge knocks to lowest section of the obverse (Victoria) and some further minor to the reverse visibly to the two o'clock and six o'clock areas, there are some small nicks and gouges particularly to the raised areas of decoration, most noticeably to the cheek area of Victoria and to the neck, there are further light surface scratches to the body of the medal on both sides, an edge knock above the O in Wilkinson where there is a small indent, further very small dents above the O and H of John, above the L in Wilkinson and beneath the N, some further minor nicks to the edges, some toning particularly to the reverse upper section, rubbing and wear to the ribbon clasp and bars.
A Naval General Service Medal (1847) awarded to George Wall with erroneous St Vincent clasp; George Wall is listed as rank Able Seaman and serving on the HMS Benbow which participated in the bombardment of Acre in 1840, therefore medal lacking Syria clasp as would have been issued, this medal is listed as having been sold in Sotheby's in 1910 with a false clasp, some photocopied research included. CONDITION REPORT: Erroneous St Vincent clasp as stated, lacking the Syria clasp which service would have merited, edge knock to reverse between two and three o'clock, further minor contact marks to edges with some small dents, nicks and gouges around edges, surface wear including scratches, nicks and gouges, these particularly to the raised surfaces including Victoria's cheek, cannot speak to originality of St Vincent clasp, please judge from images and request additional if necessary.
A Crimea and Turkish Crimea Medal duo, the former with Sebastopol, Inkermann and Balaklava bars named to W Preece 2nd Dragoons and the latter to C Preece 2nd Dragoons, Crimea Medal with officially impressed regiment but re-engraved name and Turkish medal with privately engraved name and regiment, with photocopied National Archive records listing a William Charles Preece on the 2nd Regiment of Dragoons Crimea Medal Roll with service number 7157 (possibly) (both medals af); with further photocopied ancestral research indicating that William Charles Preece served as a police officer in Worcestershire after the Crimean War and present is a truncheon with City of Worcester coat of arms named and dated 'November 28th 1862 WC Preece', and two pairs of iron handcuffs with impressed numbers to keys, please see condition report. Please note that this recipient is believed to be the grandfather of the Pte Preece in Lot 370. CONDITION REPORT: Both medals in poor condition, the Crimea medal has numerous heavy edge knocks to both sides particularly obverse nine o'clock but further to lower section and throughout, heavy surface wear with numerous pronounced nicks and gouges and surface scratches throughout, rubbing to the raised areas and similar heavy wear to medal edge, the Turkish Crimean medal is thinner than is usual, further edge knocks to both sides, similar heavy surface wear and rubbing, the naming is clearly to a C. Preece, similar wear to clasp and bars although with fewer dents, also wear to the painted finish polychrome detail of the truncheon with also surface gouges and nicks, medals sold as seen, request more information and pictures if necessary, there will be no returns on this lot.
A Queen Victoria South Africa Medal with Transvaal and Cape Colony bars, awarded to 6121 PTE J.FINNERTY.I:YK:&LANC REGT, an Edward VII South Africa Medal with South Africa 1901 and 1902 bars awarded to 5904 C.CLARKE.YORK:L.I., a Queen Victoria Afghanistan 1878-79-80 medal, awarded to NO.7310.GUNR.T.KAY.A/4.R.A., a Long Service and Good Conduct medal (unnamed) and a Victorian India Medal 1857-1858 (unnamed) (5).
A Punjab medal with Chilianwala clasp, name erased (probably), poor condition (af). CONDITION REPORT: Condition issues throughout, concentrated scratches where the naming would be, no clear visible prior naming but concentration of scratches suggests that name erasure has taken place, numerous edge knocks and further contact marks to edges throughout, deep gouge to Victoria neckline with further scratches, nicks and gouges to raised and flat surfaces throughout, denting to the rear of the clasp and mount further similarly worn.
A Distinguished Conduct Medal awarded to 156941 Pte. A. Ellis 58/M.G.C. with original Third Supplement to the London Gazette dated 9th March 1920 citing the action 'On 15th September, 1918, near Epehy, during the relief of a section, a team became separated from the remainder by shellfire. He went back for over a mile along a track which was under continuous and heavy shellfire and eventually was able to locate them, and guided them back through the barrage with the utmost disregard for his personal safety.', also listed in Fifth Supplement 30th May 1919 as having been awarded a bar to the DCM under the same service number. Also included are Pte. Ellis' WWI War and Victory medals received under service no. 282088 when in the Royal Welsh Fusiliers with archive including his diary describing action seen in 1918 when in the Machine Gun Corps with the last entry dated Saturday 14th September, the day before the event which earned him the DCM. There are also present period photographs of Private Ellis alone and in company, numerous official service documents, a collection of cap badges and personal effects including a cased Women's Voluntary Service Medal awarded to L.J. Ellis dated 1961. CONDITION REPORT: Postage of this lot would be £18 + VAT within the UK.

Russell of the 1st/6th Battalion King's Liverpool Regiment with Memorial Plaque and photocopied document stating that he died on the 7th August 1916 aged 26 and 1914 Christmas tin; the second awarded to Henry 'Harry' Alfred Russell CH.CK. M.F.A. with ribbon bar and certificate stating eligibility for Mercantile Marine medal also (not present); the third awarded to 1921 Pte. Raymond Russell, all with photocopied photographs of the recipients; also a boxed WWII group of four awarded to Henry Alan Russell comprising War and Defence Medals, 1938-1945 and France and Germany Stars and two Parachute Regiment badges including silver and enamel example; also four boxed British Red Cross society medals (three with certificates) awarded to Alice Russell (wife of Henry Alfred Russell and mother of Henry Alan Russell) with two further BRTS badges. A George V and VI India General Service Medal duo with 'North West Frontier 1935' and '1936-37' clasps awarded 4124675 Pte. Ronald Steele of the Argyll & Sutherland Highlanders. Private Steele died when serving in WWII when he and his battalion were cut off behind enemy lines in the Malay jungle and were soon after captured by the Japanese. Ronald and his company were taken to Kuala Lumpur prison during which time Ronald contracted dysentery and soon after passed away. With this group are a Memorial Scroll, two War Memorial and Grave booklets for Edinburgh Castle and the Far East, and a number of letters written to Ronald's mother after an appeal for information by his comrades testifying to the circumstances of his capture and death and to his comradeship. CONDITION REPORT: The George V medal with a few edge knocks, most pronounced to four o'clock obverse and five o'clock reverse, both with some contact marks and dents to edges and general surface scratches and wear.
An interesting WWII prisoner of war three medal group comprising War medal, 1939-45 and Pacific Stars, awarded to 1113236 Gnr Ernest Preston of the Royal Artillery; Gnr Preston was captured and held as a prisoner of war by the Japanese and present are numerous related documents including British Red Cross letter addressed to his wife stating that he had been reported missing and asking her for details, War Office communications relating to subsequent payments to Mrs Preston, a handbook for relatives and friends of prisoners of war and civilians in Japanese territory, Notice of Surrender of the Japanese government issued to the Allied prisoners, Gnr Preston's field medical card stating a diagnosis of malaria, a cable sent from Canada to Manchester dated 12th October 1945 and reading 'Arrived safely in Vancouver BC Hope to see you soon Love to all = Ernest', an official letter of welcome to Japanese prisoners of war from Buckingham Palace and further related material; also a collection of Japanese cigarette papers assembled by Gnr Preston, very possibly during his time as a prisoner of war, and a topographical postcard album including scenes from the Middle and Far East.
