WOMACKFrank Womack (1888-1968) still holds the record number of Football League appearances for Birmingham City, playing 491 times between 1908 and 1928. The full back also holds the league record for the most appearances without ever scoring a goal. Womack represented the Football League in the match v the Scottish F.L. played on his home ground of St Andrews in 1918-19. The Football League won the game 3-1.
Frank Piercy's West Ham United FC London Football Combination winner's medal season 1920-21,15ct. gold, inscribed LONDON FOOTBALL COMBINATION, WEST HAM UNITED F.C., F. PIERCY, 1920-21, in replacement caseFrank Piercy began his career at Middlesbrough before transferring to West Ham United in 1904 together with team-mate Christopher Carrick. Nicknamed The Old War Horse, Piercy was uncompromising in the tackle and was regularly in trouble with referees for this and other disciplinary issues. He was the first 'hammer' to clock up 200 appearances. After his playing career finished through injury in 1912, Piercy became assistant trainer at the club under Charlie Paynter with responsibility for the reserves team, hence the presentation of this London Football Combination medal in season 1920-21.

In May 1920 he was all set to manage Gillingham in their first season of League football but resigned to return to Sheffield Wednesday. Having gained the Yorkshire club promotion in 1925-26 he was at the helm for the club's back-to-back League Division One Championship titles in 1928-29 and 1929-30.

The inside forward scored 23 goals in 61 League appearances before joining Sheffield United in 1931 and where he would win a F.A. Cup winner's medal in 1936. He later won a runners-up medal with Huddersfield Town in 1938, and also won three England caps.Lot 790 in this auction is an unnamed F.A. Cup runners-up medal for Huddersfield Town in 1938 that has been consigned from the estate of the same deceased collector. However, the family and the auctioneer cannot confirm it there is a player connection between the medals being offered as lots 754 and 790, but Bobby Barclay did play for Huddersfield in the 1938 F.A. Cup Final.

BAKER, BRENTFORD F.C., 1932-33Tom Baker, sometimes known as "Billy", was the Brentford goakeeper during the 1932-33 Division Three (south) Championship season. Born in Seaham Harbour, Co Durham, Baker went down the mines and was spotted in local colliery football by Football League club Southport before transferring to Brentford. Baker lost his place to Jack Clough and finished his career with spells at Northampton Town and Rochdale.
