Discharged 17th March 1924.

Received a gunshot wound to the right thigh on 9th October 1917 and admitted into 47th Casualty Clearing Station R.A.M.C. Promoted Serjeant on 21st November 1917. Returned to England to attend No. 6 Officer Cadet Battalion in Oxford on 10th May 1918.  Discharged to Commission on 3rd February 1919. Commissioned as a 2nd Lieutenant in the West Yorkshire Regiment on 4th February 1919.

Medals (3) of 219941 Leading Seaman Arthur Edward Gartrell R.N. 1914-1915 Star, British War Medal 1914-1920, and Allied Victory Medal 1914-1918, mounted. Born in Plymouth, educated at Greenwich Naval School and served as a Boy aboard HMS St Vincent from 17th March 1902 until 5th October 1904 when posted to HMS Excellent. At the outbreak of the First World War was serving aboard HMS Superb, a Bellerophon-class dreadnought battleship, seeing action at the Battle of Jutland with the 3rd Division of the 4th Battleship Squadron Led by Admiral Sir John Jellicoe. HMS Iron Duke was followed by HMS Royal Oak, HMS Superb and then HMS Canada. At 19:20, she opened fire on the German battlecruiser Derfflinger and fired seven salvos in 4½ minutes with two claimed hits at 12,200 yards. During the battle, she fired 54 12-inch shells and received no damage. Promoted Leading Seaman on 11th February 1916 and remained aboard until 18th October 1916 when posted back to HMS Excellent. He was posted on 11th June 1919 to the Royal Yacht Victoria & Albert. Gartrell died in Hasler Hospital, Portsmouth, of pneumonia on 16th December 1925.

Medals (3) of Flt. Lt Gerald Wilton R.A.F. 1939-1945 Star, Air Crew Europe Star, and 1939-1945 War Medal. To be sold with box, slip, Caterpillar Club emblem and a selection of photocopy research papers.Born Gerhard Wolkenstein in Vienna in 1924. The third son of Jewish businessman Bernhard Wolkenstein whose assets were seized by the Nazi State and who, with his family, fled their persecution and moved to London in 1938. Interned and released in 1940 the apprentice tailor Gerhard enlisted into the Royal Air Force and took the anglicized name of 'Gerald Wilton'. Trained as a Wireless Operator, he joined 429 (Bison) Squadron RCAF from 1659 Heavy Conversion Unit RCAF. At 1859 on 24th March 1944, Halifax BIII Bomber LV917 took off from RAF Leeming to attack Berlin. Recorded as lost, the six surviving crew, including Sgt G. Wilton, were captured and sent to Stalag Luft I at Barth Vogelsang.Released at the war's end, 'Gerald' opted to remain in the Royal Air Force, first being appointed a Pilot Officer in the General Duties Branch of the R.A.F.V.R. and then transferring to the Equipment Branch of the R.A.F. on 24th July 1947. Killed in tragic circumstances outside Selfridges, London from falling out of a fourth-floor window in 1949 aged 25. His medals were posted to his elder brother E. B. Wilton ('Edward Ben Wilton') of Kilburn Lane, London.

Transferred to the Army Reserve the following month and returned to work at Port Talbot Steel Works. Discharged 14th December 1918.

Attested on 28th February 1916 and transferred to the Army Reserve. Mobilised on 3rd March 1917. Landed in France on 20th May 1917. He died of his wounds at 15th Casualty Clearing Station on 26th April 1918, inflicted whilst serving with the 101st Siege Battery, Royal Garrison Artillery.
