An important WWI part medal group awarded to Corporal James Upton VC, 1st Battalion The Sherwood Foresters (The Nottinghamshire and Derby Regiment), comprising 1914 (Mons) Star, British War Medal, Victory Medal and a George VI Coronation Medal. Also included is James Upton's miniature medals which includes the Victoria Cross. The full size medal is currently displayed at the Sherwood Foresters Museum. The grouping is accompanied by a booklet containing the V.C. Dinner menu and listing, signed by Edward VIII, along with an invitation to Sergeant J & Mrs Upton to an afternoon party on Saturday 26th June, 1920 at Buckingham Palace.James Whitbread Upton (1888-1949) was born in Lincoln. He enlisted with the 4th Sherwood Foresters at Derby on May 14th 1906 and served in Ireland and India until the war broke out. He went to France on 4th November 1914. On 9th May 1915, at Rouges Bancs in France, during the Battle of Aubers, Corporal Upton rescued wounded men while exposed to rifle and artillery fire, going close to the enemy's parapet. One wounded man was killed by a shell while the corporal was carrying him. When not actually carrying the wounded he was engaged in dressing and bandaging the serious cases in front of the British trench. Corporal Upton was presented with his VC ribbon by Major General Sir Francis Davies, GOC 8th Division, near Sailly, France on 8th July 1915. He returned to England on 14th July and his VC was presented by King George V at Windsor Castle on 24th July. ***WITHDRAWN***A George V Royal Naval Volunteer Reserve Long Service and Good Conduct Medal, name erased, with a selection of ephemera and documents to MD/X 3079 Signalman Harry Ramsbottom of Salford, Mersey Port Division. Additional InformationPlease note, the medal is a George V issue. Ramsbottom would have been awarded a George VI issue therefore, the medal and the ephemera are associated. The medal has had the original recipients name removed.
An Imperial Yeomanry Long Service and Good Conduct medal awarded to 236 TPTR H.G Yarwood Cheshire lV, in Morocco leather box, with a Royal Military Tournament medal engraved ‘Tent Pegging Auxiliaries 1st prize won by TPT Maj Yarwood, Earl of Cheshire IV’, in leather case, with a black and white card photograph produced by Webster of Chester, a gilt metal pendant with the same sitter, with sixteen photographic military postcards, an R.M.T pass for Manchester 1901, an entry form for the tournament named for Yarwood, a R.M.T headed letter to accompany the medal, and related other ephemera.

Boxing, John Conteh signed 10x8 vintage black and white photograph date stamped August 1973 on the reverse. Conteh, MBE (born 27 May 1951) is a British former professional boxer who competed from 1971 to 1980. He held the WBC light heavyweight title from 1974 to 1978, and regionally the European, British and Commonwealth titles between 1973 and 1974. As an amateur, he represented England and won a gold medal in the middleweight division at the 1970 British Commonwealth Games. In 2017, Conteh was awarded an MBE for services to boxing at the Queen's Birthday Honours. Good condition. All autographs come with a Certificate of Authenticity. Dame Beryl Elizabeth Grey CH, DBE, FRSA (née Groom; born 11 June 1927) is a retired English ballet dancer. By the age of nine she had become the star pupil of her school, had been presented a silver medal by Tamara Karsavina and had passed all the examinations of the Royal Academy of Dancing it was possible for her to take. Her talent was recognised by Ursula Moreton and Ninette de Valois, who offered her a scholarship for four years at the age of ten, with the option of joining their dance company for a further four years. She began to attend the Sadler's Wells School in 1937 where her teachers were Ninette de Valois and Vera Volkova. Good condition. All autographs come with a Certificate of Authenticity.
