A WWI Medal Trio, Victory Medal, 1914-16 Star, War Medal to J34575 Ernest Bennett Signal Boy Royal Navy, contained in a 1914 Christmas tin, also included is a quantity of paper records covering naval and associated records of Mr Bennett, including Certificate of Service, Wound Certificate, Examination Record, Birth and Death Certificate and photographs. *Born in 1898 in Sheffield Mr Bennett Volunteered in January 1915 aged 16. He trained in signals and was discharged in July 1920. He was wounded on 23rd September 1917 after his ship was torpedoed. He died in 1949 aged 51 in Stannington, South Yorkshire.

A Set of Six WWII Medals to 6851182 Cpl. Leslie Overall, Kings Royal Rifle Corps. War medal with oak leaf attached, Defence medal, 1939/45 Star; Africa Star with 8th Army bar; France and Germany Star; Italy Star; plus a WWI Medal Duo to 140024 Gnr F.G.Overall, RA, Victory medal and War medal. (Mr F.G.Overall was Mr. L. Overall`s father. The lot also includes a significant amount of original paperwork tracing the wartime career of Cpl. L.Overall, including pay book, motorcycle ID card, London Gazette, temp. promotion papers, cap badges, wound notice, newspapers etc. A very interesting and unique lot. *Cpl. Leslie Overall enlisted in the KRRC as a motorcycle rider. He saw service in the African desert with the 8th Army including El Alamein. He was seriously injured in Italy on 27th Nov. 1943 after the Tarato landing at Sangro River, being a victim of friendly fire. Although losing the right side of his face, he recovered enough to complete his active service with the Town Major Force. After the war he went on to be Associate Director of W.H.Houghton (an Australian Commodities Company). He died in 2009 aged 93 years, being survived by a wife and daughter. It was noted by his family that his wartime plastic surgery remained sound until the day he died.
A WWI Military Medal Quartet to KW-311 Arthur Longley, RNVR, Military medal, Victory medal, War medal and 1914/18 Star. Plus service certificate, photograph and wound certificate. *Born 20th September 1894 in Sheffield, Mr Longley enrolled in the RNVR on 8th September 1914. Leading Seaman Longley served throughout the war, being discharged in February 1919. Notably he served in the `Hawke` Battalion and took part in the ill-fated Gallipoli Landings, being wounded on Christmas Day 1915 (certificate included in the lot). The Military Medal was gazetted in July 1918
A Medal Duo to 24454489 Lance Corporal Michael Leather, 9 Parachute Squadron, Royal Engineers, including South Atlantic Medal with rosette and General Service Medal with Northern Ireland bar. The medals mounted with ribbons and miniatures. Three later medals including Voluntary Service Medal, UN Medal and `For General Service` Medal. The lot also includes Cpl. Leather`s `Certificate of Service`, photographs and related items. *Cpl. Leather enlisted on 4th May 1977 and served around the world with the Parachute Squadron of the Royal Engineers, seeing service in Northern Ireland, Kenya, Belize and the Falklands from 26/04/82 to 10/07/82 where he operated in the combat zone. Discharged 2nd September 1986. Later he worked with the UN Mission in Bosnia in the late 1990`s.
WWI Military Medal and Death Plaque to 235396 Cpl. W. Gleadon, Leicestershire Reigiment, the lot also includes associated items including a letter from Casualty Clearing Station to his wife dated Oct. 5th 1918 (he died Oct. 8th); postcards, death scroll, cemetery picture, final pay sheet etc. An interesting and unique lot.
