WW2 British Home Front County of Essex Air Raid Wardens Medal and Identity Card, George VI Defence medal complete with the original forwarding box and award slip signed by the Chief Constable of Essex1948. Accompanied by an original County of Essex Air Raid Wardens identity card. The grouping all belonged to Mrs L A Newberry who was from Lower Dunton Road, Bulphan, Essex.

An important Polar Medal Group of six to: 295848 Bernard James Stone, Born Portsmouth, 28th January 1883- died Portsmouth, 2nd February 1940, comprising Queen's Medal SA (HMS Gibraltar, Polar Medal, George V Admiral Type, bronze issue, 1 bar for Antarctic 1910-13 (Leading Stoker. Terra Nova), 1914-15 Star, War medal, Victory medal (S.P.O. RN), Royal Navy Long Service Good Conduct Medal (S.P.O. HMS Victory). The group comes with copies of B.J. Stone's birth and death certificates, copy of service record, family tree and various copies of photographs, one on his wedding day in uniform and, like his best man and cousin C.P.O. Arthur S. Bailey, both wearing their Polar medals. (Arthur Bailey's Polar medal group of five and RGS bronze Scott memorial medal were sold by Morton & Eden Ltd, lot 616, 3rd October 2003, for £5,200) Provenance: By direct descent to present owner B.J.
