The Abyssinian Campaign on 1867 was a rescue mission to return fifty three European hostages taken prisoner by King Theodore of Abyssinia Magdala, more than 300 miles inland. The punitive expedition under General Sir Robert Napier involved ships of the Royal Navy, a Naval Brigade and British Indian Troops.
