Collings R.I.M.S Hardinge); Coronation 1911 (engraved Engr Lieut A B Collings, R.I.M.S Dufferin), EF and mounted as a pair; BWM (Engr-Lt-Comdr A B Collings R.I.M) EF in mint envelope; and a “For Voluntary War Work in India 1914-19” cased brooch with Govt. of India transmittal letter to Engr Lt Cdr A.B. 1914 star (11187 Pte A C Mellows 11/Hrs) GVF; BWM (3: MB 1034 C Webster C.M.M. RNVR; M2 148014 Pte A C Howard A.S.C; 3-8959 Pte G E Charter Suff R), VF (last NVF with no suspender); Victory medals (2: 93556 Gnr W O Pittkin RA; P-567 L Cpl A F Dench MMP), GVF and NVF and a Lusitania commemorative medal, VF, no box. Note: George Ernest Charter Pte Suffolk Regt died 28.04.1917 and commemorated at the Arras Memorial.
Three: 1914-15 star, BWM, Victory (CH 8842 W J Woodroffe R.M.L.I), GEF, in packet remains, with Memorial Plaque to William John Woodroffe. Also a Metropolitan Police Coronation Medal 1911 (P.C. W Woodroffe), GVF (not illustrated). Plate 2 Note: Born 2.09.1877, enlisted 29.1.1896. Served aboard HMS Aboukir. The Live Bait Squadron, as it was dubbed, comprised HMS Aboukir, Cressy and Hogue, three ships built in 1901-1902 which had been in reserve or used for training. At the beginning of the war they were recommissioned and had the task of patrolling the southern area of the North Sea between Britain and Holland. On 22nd September 1914, seven weeks into the war, the three vessels were torpedoed in rapid succession by U Boat U-9 resulting in British losses (including Woodroffe) totalling 1,459.

Note: Cyril Arthur Vivian Oldham, Rifleman 3275 and 302060, died 9.10.1916 and commemorated at the Thiepval Memorial.
Three: Defence, Canadian Voluntary Service medal with Maple Leaf clasp, War medal (un-named as issued), VF mounted as worn together with the Canadian Army Discharge Certificate in favour of G-19830 Gunner Donald Lee Leckey, dated 26.4.1946, his Dept of National Defence Statement of War Service Gratuity, and 7 cloth patches including 2 Canadian Artillery and 2 cloth shoulder titles “Canada”.
Royal Humane Society, small bronze medal for successful rescue (Captain Edward J. Collins (sic), 19 September 1884), GVF, (claw slack). In its original case of issue. Plate 1 Note: Edward J Collings, Captain of SS Commerce, was awarded this medal for saving from drowning the life of a man at Sutton Pool, Plymouth. “The Star” newspaper of Guernsey Nov 4th 1884 relates Captain Collings was “.distracted from his sleep, by cries of drowning, and rushing on deck had to scramble across three vessels and then dive into the pool in the dark to save the man,” apparently the pool had “a large amount of sewage.poured into it and he might have been suffocated”. Liverpool Shipwreck and Humane Society silver medal, 3rd type (Capt. Jn Stewart SS “Cecile” For Rescuing 8 Persons capsized in a Gig in Crosby Channel May 27th 1888), VF, (edge bruised). Plate 1 Note: “The Morning Post” Tuesday 29th May 1888 records “The Cecile. from Bordeaux, arrived at Liverpool, in coming up Crosby Channel yesterday sighted a boat full of water; lowered port lifeboat, and after considerable difficulty, owing to strong NNW wind, succeeded in rescuing five men and three boys, all in an exhausted condition”. “The Liverpool Mercury” 29th May 1888 annouced the Silver medal to Captain John Stewart, Vote of Thanks to Chief Officer Routledge and Pilot Wm Hughes, and 20s each to 3 seamen who accompanied them in Cecile’s lifeboat.

Ipswich Hospital Football Cup 1938 Winners 9ct Gold Medal, won by George Perrett. Born London 1915, he originally played for Fulham before joining Ipswich as Half Back, Town debut 29th Aug 1936 Tunbridge Well Rangers, last game 27/12/49 and retired June 1950. He then ran the E.U.R. Pub in Croft Street till his death in 1952. He saw war service and was involved in the D Day Invasions 1944. Lot also includes original postcard photo + other photos, and Tunbridge Programme, together with a large presentation clock by Garrard, this with a silver engraved plaque `Presented to G. Perrett by the Directors of Ipswich Town Football Club in appreciation of Winning The Southern League Championship Season 1936-37`. And a 9ct Gold hallmarked Ipswich Town FC League Winners Medal named to G Perrett 1936-1937. Plus a large hand coloured picture of Perrett in London Schools colours.
