Oliver Duff (or Davis) Greene (January 25, 1833 – March 19, 1904) was a Union officer who received the Medal of Honor on December 13, 1893, for his action at the Battle of Antietam on September 16, 1862. Signed special orders. Brig. Gen. Absalom Baird (August 20, 1824 – June 14, 1905) was a career United States Army officer who distinguished himself as a Union Army general in the American Civil War. Baird received the Medal of Honor for his military actions. 24 page General Orders signed by Baird. Brigadier General Rufus Saxton (1824-1908), a general in the Union Army. WWI group of six medals plus miniatures and other badges etc. These medals and other items were the property of Major Walter Beckwith Burford (later LT Colonel). Unfortunately the trio have had the names removed, presumably as they were replacements obtained at a later date. The group consists of the Order of St John, a 1914/15 WWI trio with oak leaf, 1935 Jubilee Medal, 1937 Coronation Medal, mounted as worn in a removable glass frame. The lot also includes a full and part set of minatures, together with certificate relating to the issue of the Coronation Medal. W.B. Burford served during the First World War in Salonika as a Captain in the Royal Engineers and there is a touching letter from his Commanding Officer regarding this service. After the war he spent many years serving in India. The lot also includes various copies of the Balkan News circa 1916/17, various R.E. buttons and badges and some unusual Indian ARP badges - an interesting lot.

Queens South Africa medal three bars including Defence of Kimberley A QSA medal with three bars, Transvaal Orange Free State and Defence of Kimberley to 913 PTE J Hocking, Kimberley Volunteer Regiment. This comes with box and envelope of issue addressed to Mrs E J Hocking of Lanner, Redruth. The box is addressed to Mrs Hocking and marked (widow), so we assume he was a casualty. The medal is in superb un-worn condition. Also included in the lot is a WWII War Medal.

Arab coin, apparently 1845, a Silver plated metal souvenir spoon, M.S. Willem Ruys (1947-65), Royal Rotterdam Lloyd line. The ship became infamous as the cruise liner Achille Lauro in 1985 (following the Willem Ruys' sale and name change in 1965), when it was hijacked off Alexandria by four Palestine Liberation Organisation men, who murdered Leon Klinghoffer. A 1935 medal, Police Union of Etterbeek, Belgium (near Brussels) : "Union Policiere d'Etterbeek, Inauguration du Drapeau, 30 Mai 1935". Finely embossed on both sides. A rare First World War armed services athletics medal, commemorating the American and British Empire Services Sports at Stamford Bridge football ground, London on 7 September 1918. In sterling silver, finely embossed and enamelled in red, white and blue. The sports were contested by service men and women from Britain, the Imperial forces and the United States Army. A five-minutes-long film recording the sports events, produced by the Royal Air Force, is held by the Imperial War Museum (catalogue no. IWM 633 and viewable online). A number of events are shown, including the men's 120 yards hurdles and one mile relay, and the women's auxiliary services 440 yards relay. At the end Lord Beaverbrook is shown presenting the medals.
