Distinguished Conduct Medal casualty group - DCM GV (20230 L.Sjt W A Connor 2/R.Berks.R.), BWM & Victory Medal (20230 A.Sjt W A Connor R.Berks.R.), French Croix de Guerre 1914-1917 with Palm Leaf. Death Plaque to William Albert Connor. Killed In Action 15th October 1917 with the 2nd Bn. Born London. Buried Prowse Point Military Cemetery. DCM L/G 22 Oct 1917. Croix de Guerre L/G 14 July 1917. DCM citation reads 'For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty when in charge of an advanced post. An enemy counter attack drove back the troops on his flank, but he held on to his post, covering the withdrawal, and when outflanked fought his way back with his men and rejoined his battalion. He showed great fearlessness and initiative'. With postcards and newspaper cuttings. His brother Harry was KIA 28/7/17 and other brother Charles was taken POW.
London Scottish Officers Jacket. This jacket is the pattern worn before the First World War and in the 1920s by Officers of the 14th Battalion, London Regiment. The Hodden Grey cloth is in excellent condition with one very small hole in the left sleeve. All the original white metal buttons, buckle, collar badges and Majors Crowns are present, along with three First World War medal ribbons.

Medals mounted as worn MBE (Military), 1939-45 Star, Africa Star + 8th Army clasp, Italy Star, War Medal and Service Medal of The Order of St John (DR.H.L.W.Sixsmith). Awarded the MBE (Mily) L/G 18/2/1943, and then the OBE (Mily) L/G 23/3/1944 (West Horsley, Surrey) for gallant and distinguished services in Sicily. Lot includes bother Certificates for medals, a metal 'A.D.M.S.' sign, officers side cap, a large quantity of original military paperwork linked to the 8th Army, newspapers, photos inc medical interest, sketches, several books on WW2 that were given to the Lt Col. MM L/G 21/10/1916, Bar L/G 12/3/1917. His Medal Card shows "EM" (or emblems) however no MID can be traced. The Star is in very poor condition having been found buried in the Garden by his son. When an ammunition dump became ignited by shell fire, he assisted the officer in charge to remove ammunition under very dangerous circumstances. Although blown away some distance by a violent explosion, he returned to the dump, and, amid continual explosions, helped to carry away wounded'. MID L/G 30/5/1918. Born Knowle, Birmingham.
