Ten medals for the Cheshire Regiment comprising two WWI trios to 2669 Private T Anderton and 17922 Corporal C Hayes, two 1914-15 Stars (one to 16463 Private Frederick Wright who was born in Congleton and was killed in action on 3rd July 1916), a Victory medal and a George VI General Service medal 1918-62 with clasp for Palestine ascribed to 4123518 Private W Jones.

The First Battalion Royal Irish Rifles was heavily involved in the fighting on the first day of the Battle of the Somme, 1st July 1916.
A WWI military medal group of three medals to 2726 Lance Corporal W.S. Bland, Middlesex Regiment, with various cap badges and a large quantity of ephemera relating to W.S. Bland and his later family, also including a photograph of the grave of his brother 40777 Private E.J. Bland who lost his life at Ypres. Included is a letter of appreciation from Major General Commanding Officer of the 41st Division detailing the actions of Lance Corporal Bland "I wish to place on record my appreciation of your gallantry devotion to duty on 24th and 25th March 1918 when although wounded you collected a party of men who were withdrawing and led them forward under heavy shell fire. You then collected tools from a forward dump which was being heavily shelled and dug a trench from which heavy casualties were inflicted on the enemy. When a withdrawal was...[illegible]".
A WWI Gallantry Military Medal group of four medals to 15956 Sergeant JG Kerr, Liverpool Regiment, with a book The History of The 89th Brigade and with signed card of congratulations inscribed "For your gallantry and for services rendered to your country at Ypres, you have been awarded the military medal", signed by a brigadier general. Winter Police Station, Carnforth N.T.R.B173/3 with various other medals and medallions. Small edge knocks to medals, small enamel loss on wrestling medal. Viewing advised.
A FIRST WORLD WAR TRIO AND BADGES named to 13800 Pte.J.Hart. Border.R, 11th (Lonsdale) Battalion entered France 23/11/1915. Accompanied by a Border Regiment cap badge and Eleventh Battalion (Lonsdale) cap badge by Gaunt; sold along with various Coronation medals and a shoulder bar, also a copy of his medal card. He does not appear on casualty lists. Generally very good, some light patches of tarnishing.
A RARE AND IMPORTANT SET OF WW1 MEDALS compromising a 1914-15 star trio to 17367 Pte.T.Bell Bord.R., shows on medal index cards as 11th (Lonsdale) Battalion KIA 1/7/1916 Lonsdale Cemetery, Authuille, together with his death plaque named to Thomas Bell. SOLD TOGETHER WITH a War Medal, a Victory Medal and death plaque named to 17540 Pte.A.Bell Bord.R 11th (Lonsdale)Battalion later transferred to 8th Battalion, who died of wounds 18/4/1918, buried in Etaples Military Cemetery, also sold with soldiers small book to A.Bell and period history of the Lonsdale Battalion book. Overall good condition, small areas of tarnishing, book is tattered and bruised.
