Val Costello (California, Kansas 1875 - 1937) Abstract oil on canvas painting. Signed lower right. Sight Size: 19 x 13.5 in. Overall Size: in. During the 1930s he worked on the Federal Art Project as assistant to James Redmond on the Compton Post Office mural. Costello died in Los Angeles on May 8, 1937. An advocate of modernism, his canvases were considered avant garde during his lifetime.
