China / WW1 Casualty group- China War Medal 1900 with Relief of Pekin clasp (Asst. Engr A E Cossey, RN HMS Aurora), 1915 Star Trio (Eng. Commr A E Cossey RN). Arthur Ernest Cossey was Killed 5/6/1916 when the HMS Hampshire sank with Lord Kitchenor on board. Remembered Lyness Royal Naval Cemetery. Son of the late Major J F Cossey. Lot comes with detailed research, Cossey was born in India in a town called Kisauli. He was involved in the action at Langfang during the China Wars, specifically Anting Station Arthur Cossey was Mentioned In Despatches, the London Gazette entry reads thus: Mr Arthur E. Cossey Assistant Engineer HMS Aurora, at much risk to himself returned from our most advanced post towards Anting Station to bring important news. Admiral Seymour also wrote that he be recommended for promotion. A footnote also written by Admiral Seymour says; when the fact of the Chinese having beheaded anyone they got is considered, the conduct of such Officers or men as risked themselves to such capture is to be praised far more than if against a civilised foe. Named Le Marche Mondial De L'Equipement Rural Paris (edge stamped 'Argent') (63mm). And Mrs Kathleen Vera Culpin:- Civil Defence LS Medal, WVS Medal, 1977 Silver Jubilee Medal, all cased with Certificates. (6)
BWM and Victory Medal to Lt Albert Victor Seymour Nordheimer Royal Canadian Dragoons. Killed in Action 30th March 1918, buried Moreuil Communal Cemetery Allied Extension. He commanded the Guard Squadron during the change of the Canadian Cavalry Brigade at Bois de Moreuil. One of the last charges on the Western Front. Taken from the intelligence summary :'Lt AVS Nordheimer was killed in the first mounted charge of the day. Later he was buried where he fell, his initials being cut into a large tree'. Lt Flowerdew of Lord Strathcona's Horse was awarded a VC during the charge. So important was this action to Canada that it was re-enacted less than a month later so that the artist Alfred Munnings could immortalise the charge in paint. Upper Canada College.

RHA), QSA with bars RoK/Pa/Jo/DH/Wi (75772 Gnr D Hutchinson R Bty RHA), KSA with bars SA01/SA02 (75772 Gnr D Hutchinson RHA), and EDVII Army LSGCM (75772 Gnr D Hutchinson RA). Plus his Regimental Account Book, born nr Croydon, Surrey. His DCM was Gazetted 27th Sept 1901, and he was Mentioned In Despatches 10th September 1901. He was also Wounded In Action 26th August 1900 at Zeerust. Died Plumstead 1948. GVF (5).

Box of issue for DFM and named box of issue for WW2 Stars (no Casualty Medal slip). Died 27/2/1945 with 138 Sqdn, as Pilot Officer 184794. On the Runnymede Memorial. His DFM was awarded for service with 106 Sqdn on 28 Sorties, mainly during the Battle of the Ruhr, plus Berlin, Stuttgart, Stettin, Hamberg and Friedrichshaven. nEF (5)
