The bowl comes from the silverforge founded by Wilhelm Schulze who acquired his knowledge in Germany and Norway. In 1937 he won a gold medal with his very fine silver pieces at the Exposition Internationale des Arts et Techniques dans la Vie Moderne in Paris. Germany, Bremen, Bremer Werkstätten für Kunsthandwerkliche Silberarbeiten (BWKS), circa 1950, hallmarks: maker's mark, moon, crown, 925, model number: 1533a 39, V-import hallmark - light signs of use and minimal dents. 126 grams, 925/1000. WWI French Legion d'Honour medal group of three to include Legion d'Honour, Croix de Guerre with palm leaf and Order of Palms of rosettes together with cased Legion d'Honour officer class with rosette to ribbon, also a set of medal miniatures 'Legion d'Honour with rosette, Croix de Guerre with palm leaf and Order of Palms of rosettes', awarded to Capt Ferdinand Renaudeau of Artillery. Initially enlised in the Artillery during the outbreak of WWI, to later be awarded the Croix de Guerre with palm leaf for valiant actions during the Battle of Verdun at Chemin des Dames and promoted to the rank of captain at the age of 25. In 1917, Capt Renaudeau travelled to the US to convince the Americans to engage in the conflict, while after he also worked closely with British and American forces as an interpreter. After the war he became an Associate Professor of English where the Lycee Reneaudeau Institute bears his name.
