OSCAR FLORIANUS BLUENNER (American 1867-1938), Modernist townscape, signed lower right, crayon, watercolour and wash, 7" x 9" (see illustration). Note: Born in Prussia, Bluenner won the Royal Medal of Architecture at the Berlin Royal Technical Academy in 1891 before fleeing to the U.S. the following year. He notably designed the Bronx County Court House and became an active member of the modern art movement forming around Alfred Steiglitz's '291' Gallery.

A Suffragette medal in silver awarded to "Anna Hutchinson", the small silver 22mm diameter medal engraved "Hunger Strike" and named with the recipient to reverse, suspended on mauve, white and green striped ribbon with upper ribbon pattern bar engraved "For Valour" and the lower bar engraved "March 1st 1912", contained in original cloth covered box, the interior of the lid printed in blocked gilt "Presented to Anna Hutchinson by the Women's Social Political Union in recognition of a gallant action whereby through endurance to the last extremity of hunger and hardship, a great principle of political justice was vindicated" Note : The medal was awarded by the Women's Social & Political Union (WSPU) to those militant Suffragettes who were imprisoned for various acts of violence and who went on hunger strike whilst in prison. At first they were forcibly fed under the most barbaric conditions, as a result of which several died. The Government then introduced the Cat & Mouse Act whereby hunger strikers at the point of death were released but were then re-arrested and returned to prison when they had recovered sufficiently from their ordeal

Scarce 1994 Winter Olympic Games official competitors participation bronze rectangular medal in original wooden display case-for the XVIIth winter games at Lillehammer-heavily embossed with Olympic Symbols and abstract sporting scenes-overall 73 x 63mm-in it's original wooden folding display case. Note-In 1986, the IOC voted to change the schedule of the Olympic Games so that the Summer and Winter Games would be arranged in alternating even-numbered years. Lillehammer won the right to host the event in September 1988 before the opening ceremony of the 1988 Summer Olympics in Seoul. The Lillehammer Games were held in 1994 being the only time the Winter Games have been staged two years after the preceding Games.
