AN AIR EFFICIENCY MEDAL GROUP 1939/ 45 & Africa Stars, Defence and War Medals, Air Efficency Award in box of issue. Dated 1955 the original Award Document is addressed to Flt Lt S J Roberts. The Second World War Medals are also in the box of issue, to the same recipient. Silver RAF Sweetheart Wings, RAF Officers Cloth Cap Badges and a mounted Miniature Group are in this lot. Also a related Bwm & Victory Medal Pair, with Silver Wound Badge in its original green box. The pair are named to 3932 Sjt J C Roberts Leics Regt.
A NAVAL GENERAL SERVICE MEDAL BAR SYRIA. Named to John Morshead Lieut R N. Born 1806 Volunteered for The Navy 1821.served as a Midn during the Ashantee War at Cape Coast Castle. After service on many Ships including Prince Regent, Redwing, Owen Glendower, Maidstone etc, he commanded a Battalion of the Guns at the Storming of Boca Tigris. Serving in the boats during the Syrian War, he successfully removed a quantity of Gun Powder, from the Castle of Beyrout. LG 1840 p 2610 Sold with a Copy of His Service up to 1846.

An 1895 pattern Royal Fusiliers officer's sword to Major Francis Allix Wilkinson, 81.5cm blade by Jones & Co. 6 Regent St, London, etched with scrolling foliage, Royal Arms, crowned VR Cypher, Regimental motifs, battle honours to Sevastopol and owner's family crest and motto NON MIHI SED TIBI GLORIA, regulation pierced steel hilt incorporating VR Cypher, wire bound fishskin grip, contained in its field service scabbard with steel locket and chape. Blade sharpened for use. As of 1906 Major Francis Allix Wilkinsons service details were as follows: 2nd Lieut 11 Aug 1880, Lieut 1 July 1881, Captain 14 May 1887, Major 6 Apr 1898. Major Wilkinson served with the Burmese Expedition 1886-87 as Brigade Transport Officer (mentioned in despatches, Medal with Clasp)
An interesting 1821 pattern light cavalry officer's sword to the RHA, 88.5cm blade by Wilkinson, serial no. 24611, etched with scrolls, Regimental motifs, Royal Arms, owner's initials of W.S. and a stamped presentation inscription From Lt. Colonel The Honble Alex Stewart RHA, 31st December 1881, regulation three-bar steel hilt, wire bound fishskin grip, contained in its steel scabbard. The inscription on the blade probably refers to The Hon. Walter John Stewart who was Lt. Colonel of the 12th Lancers as at 1885, his brother The Hon. Alexander Stewart was a Major General Royal Artillery on half pay as at 1885. Major General The Hon. A. Stewart served with the expedition to China in 1860, and was present at Sinho, Tangku actions near Tangehow, and surrender of Pekin (Medal with Clasp). Served in the Afghan War of 1878-80, and was present in the engagements at Futtehabad and on the Gara Heights near Kam Dakka (mentioned in despatches, Brevet of Lt. Colonel, and Medal)
An 1822 pattern Grenadier Guards officer's sword, to Captain William Earle, later Major General William Earle Commader of the River Column on the relief force to rescue General Gordon at Khartoum, 81.5cm clean blade by Wilkinson, London, serial no. 7892, etched with scrolls, a crowned flaming grenade, crowned VR Cypher and battle honours to Sevastopol, regulation steel hilt incorporating a flaming grenade, wire bound fishskin grip, contained in a steel scabbard with two suspension rings. As at 1885 Major General William Earle was Commanding a Brigade in Egypt; served with the 49th Regiment throughout the Eastern Campaign of 1854-55, including the battles of Alma and Inkerman, siege of Sebastopol, sortie of 26th Oct, and assault of the Redan on 18th June (Medal with three clasps, Sardinian and Turkish Medals, and 5th Class of the Medjidie).
