SCOTTISH SILVER MOUNTED DIRK BELONGING TO LIEUTENANT COLONEL KENNETH GIBBON O'MORCHOE (1894 - 1962)the single edge fullered blade with a notched back with a thistle embossed collar and a studded carved basket weave handle with a stone set pommel, together with a similar knife and fork all contained in a leather scabbard with thistle embossed and engraved silver mounts and a Gordon Highlanders badge, Glasgow 1924, engraved K.G.O.M., 46cm longNote: Educated at St. Andrew's College in Dublin, O'Morchoe joined the Gordon Highlanders in 1922. He had an illustrious military career, as part of The Prince of Wales's Leinster Regiment (Royal Canadians) 5th Battalion, 2nd Lieutentant 1913, Lieutenant 1915 and Captain 1915; the Royal Dublin Fusiliers, 2nd Lieutenant 1915 and Lieutenant 1916. He fought in WWI in France and Belgium 1915 - 1916 and he was wounded twice. He was awarded campaign medals, to include 1914/15 Star, British War Medal and the Victory Medal. He was also employed with the West African Frontier Force (The West African Frontier Force (WAFF) was a multi-battalion field force, formed by the British Colonial Office in 1900 to garrison the West African colonies of Nigeria, Gold Coast, Sierra Leone and Gambia) from 1917 to 1929. He joined the Gordon Highlanders in 1922 as a Lieutenant, made a Captain in 1923, Major 1934 - 1938, Adjutant 1929 - 1932, Brevet Major 1937, Major 1938 and Lietenant Colonel in 1940. He served in the King's African Rifles in 1922-24 and then again in 1934 - 38. He retired from the military in 1947.

MEDAL-GLOUCESTERSHIRE FA 1935 Gold hall-marked medal with case awarded to a player from St Pauls College , Cheltenham who were the winners of the Northern Senior Amateur Cup 1934-35. Comes with case which has a gilt inscription and medal (weighs 7/5 gm) is inscribed on the reverse and was made by Vaughtons. Gloucestershire FA crest in enamel on the front. Good
PRESTON NORTH END - MEDAL 1903-04 Second Division Championship Medal awarded to centre forward P. J. Smith who played in all but one of the League games and scored 26 goals during the season. Percy Smith scored the only goal of the final game at home to Blackpool and this goal ensured that Preston won the title by one point from Woolwich Arsenal who also gained promotion as Runners Up. Smith continued his goal-scoring exploits for PNE until 1909-10 when he was transferred to Blackburn Rovers where he won two Championship medals in 1912 and 1914.. The medal, is gold and enamel, hall-marked, with Preston North End badge on the front in enamel and inscribed on the reverse "2nd Div League Championship presented to P.J.Smith". Good
E.LONGWORTH FA MEDAL Medal awarded by the FA to Ephraim Longworth for playing in an International Trial game. Gold ,hall-marked. Date not known but Liverpool player Longworth made five appearances for England between 1920 and 1923 becoming the first Liverpool player to captain England. Inscribed E.Longworth on reverse. Good
LONDON CHARITY CUP MEDAL 1903-04 Gold hall-marked medal (with enamel) for the London Charity Cup, 1903-04. The Final was won by Casuals and the medal, (made by Vaughtons) complete with original case, belonged to C.O.S.Hatton who played for Casuals. He also played for Casuals in the first Amateur Cup Final in 1894 and was an excellent all-round sportsman excelling also at cricket, tennis and rowing., The medal weighs 8.5 grams and both medal and case with gilt inscription on lid are in very good condition. Very good
