SCOTTISH FOOTBALL ASSOCIATION SCOTTISH CUP WINNERS GOLD MEDAL 1933-34,awarded to Willie Nicholson of Rangers F.C., the obverse inscribed 'Scottish Football Association' in blue enamelled lettering around a pierced oval depicting a lion rampant, beneath a thistle motif, the reverse inscribed 'Scottish Cup 1933-34, won by Rangers F.C, W. Nicholson', 45mm high including bale, maker F&S, in nine carat gold, 13.1gNote: William 'Willie' Nicholson started his senior career with Queen's Park, before signing for Rangers F.C. in 1929. He would go on to make 70 appearances for Rangers, winning the League with the club three times, and lifting the Scottish Cup once, for which this medal was awarded. This Scottish Cup medal was well earned by Nicholson, who bagged a brace in the final against St Mirren F.C. on 21 April 1934. The match at Hampden Park eventually ended with a triumphant 5-0 win for the Boys in Blue.

He was the son of the Donald MacLeod mentioned in the previous lot. Originally playing with St. Duthus of Tain, he would go on to gain a contract with Queen's Park of Glasgow, before representing Scotland in an amateur international vs. England on April 19th, 1928. They would triumph 3-2. This medal is from his junior playing days.
