A G.A.A. Hurling Medal for Wexford, 1904 An attractive 9ct gold pierced circular medal by Hopkins & Hopkins, won by Cooke of Wexford, the obverse pierced with central harp and inscribed on base 'Connradh Laighean G.A.A.,' the reverse inscribed 'Croke Cup Hurling 1904' and 'Cooke, Wexford'. Hallmarked. Scarce.
Two old black and white Photographs, one 9 3/4'' x 7 3/4'' of a Westland 5-51 Dragonfly Helicopter understood to be being flown by Alan Bristow delivery urgent supplies in bad weather to the Wolf Rack lighthouse keepers at a time when surface deliveries were precluded by bad weather. Landing pads at this time did not exist and deliveries had to be lowered whilst hovering. Alan Bristow was awarded the Royal Aeronautical Society's Silver Medal for this feat in February 1948. Numbered in pencil verso M4404 Q/3 and with ''Graphic Photo Union'' copyright stamp; and a Graphic Photo Union stamped black and white Photograph numbered M4363I, a part sheet print a panoramic view of the Thames with the Palace of Westminster and Lambeth Palace, the home of the Archbishop of Canterbury. The image 2 3/8'' x 9 3/4'' approx.
THREE MEDALS awarded to Lieutenant George Gordon, the Military medal for Bravery in the Field '9457 PTE G Gordon.1/5 Lond. R.', a WW1 Campaign medal '2.LIEUT G. Gordon. and a 1914 Star medal '9457 PTE G Gordon. 51 Lond R' with accompanying letter, a photograph of George Gordon and a copy of 'My Lady's Garden' planted and grown Hackleplume with inscription from the Lieutenant Lieut George Gordon was awarded the Military Medal for Galantry on May 15th 1915 for repeatedly guiding reinforcements from H.Q to front line under heavy fire. Gordon was then promoted to L/Sgt in L.R.B and subsequently returned to England to be commisioned in 23rd London Regiment in January 1916. The letter in the lot was to to his mother dated 4th May 1917 and refers to a testimonial signed by many officers who had served with him in 1914-1916, the testiminial refered to in the letter has since been lost in the years after his death. Gordon was severely wounded at Ypres 1917 and died after a long illness on the 2nd January 1939. The book in the lot 'My Lady's Garden' is believed to have been sent to him by Hackleplume in 1921. He is mentioned in the first verse on page 26 of 'The Pleasuance'. He appears on page 215 under 'the index of names treasured in our memeory garden'.

1935 Rugby League, George Todd, Golden Jubilee Medal, a fine circular gold and enamel medal, with the emblems of France and England divided by Drapery Swags tied by Roses and the Fleur-De-Lis, engraved George Todd (HRFC) and cast with inscription, 'England v France, Jubilee Match, 6th May 1935'. The reverse with busts of King George V and Queen Mary and inscription 1910-1935, in original presentation case, together with a silver printed invitation to tea following the match.
