The Kirkee Memorial commemorated more than 1800 servicemen who died in India during WWI and who are buried in Civil Canton cemeteries in India and Pakistan. (We believe Major Lovell may have received his bravery award towards the end of the war where he lost his leg. He went on to become Mayor of Gloucester. He started his career in the Gloucester Yeomanry watch - and wooden stationery box with engraved plaque "To Major Charles Lovell from the officers CSM and CQMS of A Company 5th Glos Battn HG 3rd December 1944". The box contains two brass RGH brass badges."
