RE), with full set of miniatures on brooch bar, with original copy outling action, illustrated card signed by Lt- General Commianding XI Corps, Story of the 55th Division, 1916-19 and leather pouch and lapel badge with rose emblem, plus 1914-18 War Medal and Mercantile Marine Medal, awarded to Richard Littler (family connection to Cpl. Scaddan) and WWII War and Defence Medals and WWII group comprising War and Defence Medals with Stars for 1939-45 and France and Germany and two RA badges, mainly extremely fine (lot) (Illustrated)

(India medal he was Lance Corporal, the SA medals Pte)
WWII casualty group of four - WM, DM, 1939-45 star and Burma star to Lt W A Greenshields 1st Btn Lincolnshire Regiment together with photographs of him on his wedding day, a smaller portrait, his war grave, medal paperwork and booklet of the History of the Battalion. NB Lt Greenshields was the first battle casualty of the Battalion (see page 9 of the Regimental History included with the lot)
An interesting group of medals, photographs and ephemera relating to 5671154 Cpl H J Ayres Somerset Light Infantry (latterly Mayor of Bridgwater 1969) comprising 1939-45 star, Africa star with 1st Army clasp, Italy star, DM, WM and Territorial Efficiency medal, mounted; miniatures; ribbon bar; SLI badges; enamelled silver "Past Mayor" medals; also his father's WWI pair 19631 Pte Samuel Ayres SLI NB Cpl Ayres was one of only approx. 120 from the Somerset's entitled to an Africa Star
SS MAURETANIA (HMS TUBEROSE) 1914/18 War medal, Mercantile Marine medal WWII DM in box with ribbon and later Special Constabulary medal with LS bar to David A Vaughan, Steward's Boy, together with ribbon bar, photographs in uniform and ship camouflaged. SS Mauretania Hymn book, Discharge Certificate and other paperwork. Also included is a Citation etc. for saving life in 1939 (Liverpool). NB David Alfred Vaughan joined the Royal Navy in 1916 having lied about his age. He joined HMS Tuberose being the RN name for the Cunard liner RMS "Mauretania" under the White Ensign, as a Ship's Writer. At the end of hostilities his time with the RN finished but he was asked to stay, on reversion to her original Red Ensign format. He had to be issued with a Discharge Book which at that time on entering the Mercantile Marine required the production of a Birth certificate proving he was then sixteen.

The Spigot Mortar and Stores were kept in an outbuilding together with the "bombs" at the George Inn, Brompton Regis
