Medals, WW1 (wia), Afghanistan 1935 IGS, WW2 Japanese Prisoner-of-War, group of six, Colonel, RAMC, Colonel Charles Vincent Douglas ROSE, RAMC, formerly IMS, RAF, RA - Wounded WW1; PoW WW2, British Victory and War Medal (Lieut. C.V.D. Rose); India General Service 1908-1935/clasp Afghanistan 1935 (Major, IMS), 1939-1945 Star, Pacific Star, 1939-1945 War Medal - unnamed as issued, first three pin-mounted, research file including copies of medal rolls, Japanese PoW record (with translation) and post-war PoW debriefing document Colonel Rose, commissioned RA 1916, served in France and was wounded June 1917. He transferred to the RAF Medical Branch (Flt. Lt.), then to the RAMC in 1928 (Capt), with whom he served in India 1929-33, and then to the Indian Medical Service in 1933 (Major -IGS/NW Frontier 1935). Promoted to Lt. Colonel in 1939, he commanded the 20th Combined General Hospital in Malaya and Singapore, and was taken prisoner-of-war by the Japanese at the fall of Singapore February 15th, 1941 and spent the next three and a half years in Changhi PoW camp. After the war, he was promoted full colonel, retiring in 1948, and died 1960 aged 62,

Medals, WW1, Immediate (Posthumous) Military Cross for Gallantry, group of three, awarded to Captain EN Ashe, 8th Territorial Batallion, Manchester Regiment, Killed-in-Action 21st March, 1918, M.C., G.V.R., privately engraved to 'Capt. E. Neville Ashe, Manch. R., Polderhoek, Dec. 28th, 1917', British War and Victory Medals (Capt. EN Ashe -BWM naming officially corrected), MC L/G 03.06.1918: 'For distinguished service in connection with military operations in France & Flanders', copied medal roll, original research including a map, plan and account of the battle action at Manchester Hill which names Captain Ashe in the bibliography. Captain Edward Neville Ashe, MC, served with the 8th (Territorial) Batallion, Manchester Regiment on the Western Fron from September 1st, 1917. He was awarded the Military Cross for gallantry at the Battle of Manchester Hill at Polderhoek, near St. Quentin, Belgium whilst commanding 'A' Company of the 16th Batallion of the Manchester Regiment. Medal, Officer of the Order of the British Empire (OBE-Military) & Award Scroll - Wing Commander, RAF, OBE (Military), 2nd type, original ribbon and pin, cased, Award Scroll dated January 1st, 1948 - Wing Commander Glendor Godfrey Nicholas MARSHALL, RAF, copies of research including Royal Air Force List entriesWing Commander Marshall was born on August 8th, 1897, and was awarded an MBE (Military), 1st type, on L/G dated 03.06.1931 whilst serving in the RAF as a Sgt Major, 1st Class. He was commissioned as Pilot Officer on 19.04.1932, and subsequently promoted to Flight Lieutenant 19.04.1938, Squadron Leader 11.08.1940 and Wing Commander 01.07.1948 whilst serving in India prior to its independence, ultimately retuiring on 27.08.1952 aged 55.N.B. It is required that on promotion to a higher rank in the same order as Marshall was, the lower order (in this case the MBE) is to be returned. As this OBE is enclosed in an MBE case, it is presumed that he returned his MBE in the wrong case.

Fusrs), all professionally mounted cavalry style by Spink & Son, red morocco fitted case with blue silk and velvet interior, hinged cover monogrammed E.H.C. in gilt, mentioned in Lord Roberts' despatch 04.09.1901 for 'Special and Meritorious Service', file with copy of medal rolls and research. Lieutenant-Colonel Edward Henry Cox, born at Harwood Hall, Essex in 1863, commissioned November 1884. Brother of Major General Sir Percy Zachariah Cox, G.C.M.G., G.C.I.E., K.C.S.I. Aide-de-Camp to the Governor of Bombay (Major General Barton) 1892-1895: promoted captain, March 1892. Served in the Boer War at the Relief of Ladysmith, including the action at Colenso 15th December, 1899; Tugela Heights, 14th-27th February, 1900, including the action at Pieter's Hill; Natal March-June, 1900; Tranvaal July-November, 1900 and present at the actions at Frederickstad 17th-25th October, 1900; Cape Colony in action at Ruidam; Transvaal and the Orange River Colony, November 1900 to May 1902. Promoted to major 3rd February, 1900; lieutenant-colonel 3rd May, 1907; retired 23rd August, 1911, aged 48.

Millward Smith by the Warrant and Non-Commissioned Officers Royal Horse Guards as a mark of esteem on his leaving the Regiment, 1903', early 20th century biographical notes of service career, testimonials and coped service documents. Served 1882-1908 with the colours in the Royal Horse Guards, Scottish Horse and Imperial Yeomanry - twenty-six years in home service; thus Long Service Good Conduct medal was full entitlement.
