First World War medal set of Military Medal, 1914-15 Star, 1914-18 War Medal and Victory Medal to 11248 Pte H. Nettleton of the Royal Army Medical Corps where he was awarded his Military Medal, shortly after he volunteered to fight in the 4th Kings Royal Rifle Corps this being the reason his details on the edge of the Military Medal are for that Corps, It was presented to him by King George V himself. With a newspaper cutting from his obituary in the local paper giving further details of his life. In Holland he was the Driver for a Lt. H. "TINO", CONSTANTINO GRANDIO LÓPEZ (Santa Olalla de Lousada, Lugo, 1924 - 1977)."Still life in Alicante", 1974.Oil on panel.With traces of an exhibition label on the back (Alicante).It has slight flaws in the pictorial surface located in the upper left area.Signed and dated in the lower right corner.Measurements: 58 x 90 cm; 64 x 96 cm (frame).Grandio's painting always oscillates between neutral tones, especially white in contrast with black, in such a way that this work stands out for the presence of the warmth provided by the yellow colour of the cheese, which transmits luminosity to a scene which, due to the fluidity of the brushstroke, seems to show a dream, rather than a set of concrete elements which form part of a kitchen. With great subtlety the author idealises the concept of the still life, reducing to a minimum the objects and food that make it up, as well as the space in which they are found, whose treatment is based on broad brushstrokes of the same chromatic range, which give a great lyricism to a totally indeterminate atmosphere.Tino Grandio studied high school in Lugo and then moved to Santiago, but soon abandoned his studies to devote himself definitively to painting. In 1949 he went to Madrid, where he was assisted by the sculptor Cristino Mallo and the painter Díaz Caneja, becoming part of the Madrid School group. In 1955 his work was selected for the Hispano-American Art Biennial held in Barcelona, and he made his solo debut in 1957 with an exhibition at the Dirección General de Bellas Artes in Madrid. Since then he has held numerous solo exhibitions in Madrid, Barcelona, Lisbon, Paris, New York, Munich and Alexandria. He also took part in group exhibitions in Europe and South America. An award-winning painter since his youth, he won the Lugo provincial prize in 1944, and since then he has been awarded other important prizes such as the Stanley Kramer (1956), Cance (1960) and Unicef (1968) prizes, and was awarded first prize at the Anthological Exhibition of the Círculo de las Artes in Lugo (1964), grand prize and medal of honour at the first Galician Biennial (1966), and the International Grand Prize for Painting at the Marbella Biennial (1971). He took part in the National Exhibitions of Fine Arts, being awarded the third medal in 1962, the second in 1964 and the first in 1966. In 1963 he was awarded the Grand Prize of the General Directorate of Fine Arts. In 1965 he was awarded a scholarship by the March Foundation. After his death, several anthological exhibitions were dedicated to him in different parts of Galicia, sponsored by the Fauna gallery, among which the Homage Exhibition held in the Provincial Council of Lugo in 1979 stands out. In 2005, the Museum of Fine Arts of La Coruña dedicated an anthological exhibition to him entitled "Painting with the mists". Tino Grandio is currently represented in the Centro Galego de Arte Contemporánea de Santiago de Compostela and in the Museo de Arte Contemporáneo de Madrid, as well as in many other museums in Spain, Europe and America.
JAUME PLENSA (Barcelona, 1955)"Freud's children", 2001.Steel, plaster and water pump, copy 25/25.Signed and numbered.Size: 31 x 31 x 26 cm."Freud's children" is a simple piece in its configuration and subjugating in its minimal forms and enigmatic silence. The hands cupped to catch water from the basin formally contrast the organic and the formal minimalism of the cylinder, and at the same time put the elusive and elusive idea of water and the solidity of metal into dialogue. Plensa studies these synergies and latent dialogues between materials as bearers of meaning. And so, through the visual, he constructs meanings that do not require explanatory words. Rather, they awaken feelings and ideas linked to commitment, to the collective, to love, to the unconscious and to mutual help.Jaume Plensa studied at the Escuela de La Llotja and the Superior de Bellas Artes de Sant Jordi, both in Barcelona. He excelled in sculpture, drawing and engraving. His work focuses on the relationship between man and his environment, often questioning the role of art in society and the position of the artist. He currently lives in Paris, and was recently awarded an honorary doctorate by the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. Plensa began his career working with wrought iron mixed with polyester. Between 1983 and 1984 he began to mould iron using the casting technique, and developed a sculptural concept based on zoomorphic elements. His work gradually evolved, and he is now considered a precursor of Spanish neo-expressionism. In the nineties he introduced modifications in his work in terms of both material and form, and began to use different materials such as metal waste, polyester and resins. During these years he produced series of walls, doors and architectural constructions, seeking to give space an absolute protagonist role. Between 1999 and 2003 Plensa became one of the pillars of world scenography, reinterpreting four classical operas by Falla, Debussy, Berlioz and Mozart with "La Fura dels Baus", and alone in a contemporary theatrical production, "La pareti della solitudine", by Ben Jelloun. He has held solo and group exhibitions all over the world, including a retrospective at the Museo Nacional Centro de Arte Reina Sofía in 2000. In June 2008 he unveiled his work "Breathing", a memorial to journalists killed in the line of duty, at the BBC headquarters in London. Throughout his career he has received numerous distinctions, such as the Medal of the Knights of Arts and Letters in 1993, awarded by the French Ministry of Culture, and the National Prize for Plastic Arts in 1997, awarded by the Generalitat of Catalonia. Considered one of the leading representatives of the new Spanish art of expressionist tendency, his work is present in the best national and international galleries and art fairs, as well as in the main museums of Europe and the United States, such as the MOMA in New York, the Kemper in Kansas, the Museo Patio Herreriano in Valladolid, the Palazzo Forti in Verona, the MACBA and the Museo Reina Sofía in Madrid.
LUIS FEITO LÓPEZ (Madrid, 1929).Untitled.Watercolour and ink on paper.Signed in the lower right corner.Size: 32 x 45 cm; 42 x 54 cm (frame).Born and educated in Madrid, Luis Feito was one of the founding members of the El Paso group. In 1954 he held his first individual exhibition, with non-figurative works, at the Buchholz gallery in Madrid. From then on Feito exhibited regularly in the most important cities in the world, such as Paris, Milan, New York, Helsinki, Tokyo and Rome. Appointed professor at the San Fernando School of Fine Arts in 1954, two years later he left teaching and went to Paris on a scholarship to study the avant-garde movements in force. During this period he was influenced by automatism and matter painting. In 1962 he became a founding member of the El Paso group, with which he had lost contact during his years in Paris. His first works were figurative painting, followed by a phase in which he experimented with cubism and finally moved fully into abstraction. At first he only used black, ochre and white colours, but when he discovered the potential of light he began to use more vivid colours and smooth planes. He evolved until he used red as a counterpoint in his compositions (from 1962) and, in general, more intense colours. In his abstract phase, which includes the 1970s, Feito showed a clear tendency towards simplification, with the circle predominating in his compositions as a geometric form. Possibly, the influence of Japanese art can be seen in his preference for large bands of black. Most of his works are untitled and can therefore be recognised by a number assigned to them. Among his awards is his appointment as an Officer of the Order of Arts and Letters of France in 1985. In 1998 he was awarded the Gold Medal of Fine Arts in Madrid, and was made a Full Member of the San Fernando Royal Academy of Fine Arts. In 2000 he was awarded the Prize of the Spanish Association of Art Critics at the Estampa Salon, in 2002 the AECA Grand Prize for the best international artist at ARCO, in 2003 the prize for the most important artist at the Osaka Art Fair (Japan), in 2004 the Prize for the Culture of Plastic Arts of the Community of Madrid, in 2005 the Francisco Tomás Prieto Prize of the Fábrica Nacional de Moneda y Timbre, and in 2008 the Jorge Alió Foundation Prize and the Grand Prize for Spanish Contemporary Art CESMAI. Luis Feito is represented in the most important museums around the world, including the Gallery of Modern Art in Rome, the Guggenheim, the MoMA and the Chase Manhattan Bank in New York, the Museums of Modern Art in Tokyo, Paris, Rio de Janeiro and Montreal, the Lissone in Italy and the Albright Art Gallery in Buffalo.

After his first solo exhibition at the Galerías Layetanas, he travels to Paris in 1950, with a grant from the Institut Français. In 1953 he had a solo exhibition at Martha Jackson's gallery in New York. From then on, he exhibited his work, both in group and solo shows, all over the world, in leading galleries and museums such as the Guggenheim in New York and the Museum of Modern Art in Paris. Since the 1970s, anthologies have been devoted to him in Tokyo, New York, Rome, Amsterdam, Madrid, Venice, Milan, Vienna and Brussels. Self-taught, Tàpies created his own style within the avant-garde art of the 20th century, combining tradition and innovation in an abstract style full of symbolism, giving great importance to the material substratum of the work. It is worth noting the marked spiritual sense given by the artist to his work, where the material support transcends its state to signify a profound analysis of the human condition. Tàpies' work has been highly valued internationally, being exhibited in the most prestigious museums in the world. Throughout his career he has received numerous prizes and distinctions, including the Praemium Imperiale of Japan, the National Culture Prize, the Grand Prix for Painting in France, the Wolf Foundation for the Arts (1981), the Gold Medal of the Generalitat de Catalunya (1983), the Prince of Asturias Prize for the Arts (1990), the Picasso Medal of Unesco (1993) and the Velázquez Prize for the Plastic Arts (2003). Antoni Tàpies is represented in major museums all over the world, such as the foundation that bears his name in Barcelona, the Reina Sofía in Madrid, the Guggenheim in Berlin, Bilbao and New York, the Fukoka Art Museum in Japan, the MoMA in New York and the Tate Gallery in London.
To be sold on behalf of the Eccles family, the important ‘Falklands War’ Military Medal group of four awarded to Corporal Michael Eccles, P028263C , 42 Commando RM, for his gallantry during operations on the Falkland Islands. Citation On 12th June 1982 ‘K' Coy was the leading company for a unit night attack against a strongly held Argentine position on Mount Harriet. After surprising the enemy fierce fighting followed at close quarters amongst the rocks in which decisive and inspiring leadership at section level proved critical. Corporal Eccles set an outstanding example in this respect by leading from the front to encourage his section to exploit shock action and successfully overrun the position. This was only achieved, in fact, by a series of assaults against machine gun positions and groups of snipers. Several ranks were wounded, including another section commander, while the troop became even more depleted as increasing numbers of the enemy surrendered and had to be guarded. Corporal Eccles pressed on relentlessly, however, to inflict sufficient casualties for the remainder to abandon further resistance.
