"The Second Twentieth" [page 184] makes reference to Barron displaying "great gallantry" on the 19th of February 1918 during the assault on Ottoman positions at Arak Ibrahim in the vicinity of Jericho, a quote from the Commanding Officer's report reading "I should like to call to attention the magnificent spirit of the men of the Battalion, who carried out their difficult task with great courage. The success of the operation was largely due to the initiative and leadership of the young officers and NCOs; after most of the former had become casualties, the latter grasped the situation and took over control with extraordinary promptness and determination. The following ... men displayed great gallantry in this operation... Pte A Barron".]
