Lewis Lewis worked as a architect in civilian life and this medal is accompanied by photocopied at a station of short service and further documentation as well as a period photograph.
A WWI Military Medal awarded to 13669 A. L. Cpl. J. M. Rooney 7th/8th Battalion King's Own Scottish Borderers, the MM awarded 19/11/17 with Sgt. Rooney later earning the DCM 30/10/18 having been previously killed in action 26/08/18, with Gazette entry 'For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty. When his platoon commander became a casualty he went forward and led the way. He was attacked by an enemy officer, who managed to lame him severely by a blow on the leg with the butt of his rifle. Corporal Rooney, having bayonetted the officer, continued to limp ahead until he reached the enemy support line, where, single-handed, he captured a machine gun, killing the gunner and taking the three other men prisoners. In spite of his injured leg, he dispatched nine of the enemy, and working with tireless energy, he was of the greatest assistance to his company commander, encouraging the men by his example of gallantry and unflinching endurance.' WWII RAF INTEREST; a good group mounted on two boards for an individual and his crew, the first for 1560159 Warrant Officer & Air Gunner Alfred Henry Bradshaw, a group of five including Bomber Command Medal, two cloth badges including Air Gunner, two cap badges and a pair of buttons - Bradshaw served as Air Gunner on Liberators in the Middle-East with 178 Squadron completing 39 operations during his service; the second a group, the Crew of EW - 106 U - Uncle, Lt. Thomas Elliot Knight (South Africa), J. L. W. Paul, Frederick C. Green, Robert Frederick Allen, Michael J. Holdup and aforementioned Alfred Henry Bradshaw, with associated medals including a South Africa example (unnamed) and original cloth badges and medal bars, annotated with service details - the crew formed after training in 1943 and their service included joining 178 Heavy Bomber Squadron for night raids over Eastern Europe before disbanding in mid-1944; accompanied by Bradshaw's original Flying Log Book and two folders of extensive and meticulous research detailing the flying activities of both Bradshaw and Allen.

The medal itself heavily pitted throughout. Pronounced rubbing to detail as well as edge knocks and nicks, lighter wear to the Star. Careful viewing advised.
