A C19th oil on canvas ‘Forenze’ by Jean- Paul Sinibaldi (1857-1909) signed lower right . A court scene with Ladies and Gentlemen with carriages in exquisite interior ballroom Additional information: Provenance: Private Collection Jean-Paul Sinibaldi was born in Paris May 17 1857. He was a pupil of Alexandre Cabanel at the Academy of Fine Arts in Paris and the famous Belgian academic painter Alfred Stevens. He exhibited regularly at the Salon of French Artists, primarily genre scenes and historical subjects. In 1886 he won the second Prix de Rome. He received an Honourable Mention in 1898. In 1888, thanks to his ‘Daughter of Rajahs’ he received a travel grant enabling him to study painting in Italy. He was honoured with a bronze medal at the Exposition Universelle of 1889 and a silver medal at the 1900. He was also named Chevalier of the Legion of Honour in 1900. NO RESERVE

A group of six WWII medals, awarded to T/Major James Steward Fraser MacBeth (RA SBS), comprising a Military Cross, dated 1945 (with box), a 1939-1945 Star, Africa Star, Italy Star, Defence Medal and War Medal (MID), with miniatures, eight SAS silvered buttons, a copy of The Artists and The SAS book by B A Young, inscribed 'To Ian MacBeth from Uncle John 24 November 1968, a pewter plate, inscribed S MACBETH, 19.5 cm diameter, eight black and white photographs of MacBeth ('self'), including parachute training, with notes to reverse listing his comrades (possibly post WWII).
