A George VI Distinguished Flying Medal, Awarded to Flight Sgt. G.O. Greenwell. NB: Flight Sgt. Greenwell flew as navigator, started operation of service in December, 1943, flying in Sterling's Bombers with 90 Squadron. Joining No. 196 Squadron in May, 1944, taking part in operation Tonga (D Day), transporting twenty paratroopers and containers on the 5th June, and on the 10th June taking part in a special mission dropping seventeen SAS troops and containers, numerous other special missions taking place in July and August. During one of these missions on August 2nd, a special mission to Breast???, the aircraft was hit by flack losing one engine and badly damaging another. For this mission the pilot Warrant Officer Mark Azouz was awarded the DFC for returning his plane and crew back to England. The 17th and 18th September flying Stirling H, operation Market Gardener, glider lift to Arnhem, and on September, 21st whilst on a re-supply trip flying a Stirling ZO B, shot at buy flack and shot down by fighters, the pilot and rear gunner were killed, the remaining crew bailed out successfully and were repatriated. Complete with Observer's and Air Gunners flying log book, Royal Air Force service and release book, Defence Medal 1939-45, and the Caterpillar Club badge and membership card; together with December 2007 Issue of Fly Past from which a detailed account can be found of the last moments of Flight Sgt. Greenwell's stricken aircraft and the subsequent events.

EVEREST EXPEDITION 1953: A signed colour commemorative cover by both Edmund Hillary (1919-2008, New Zealand Mountaineer) and Tenzing Norgay (1914-1986, Nepalese Sherpa and Mountaineer) individually. The cover was issued by the Kingdom of Nepal to commemorate the 25th Anniversary of the First Ascent of Mount Everest, completed by Hillary and Tenzing, and is postally cancelled 29th May 1978. The cover features an inset sterling silver commemorative medal depicting the climbers at the summit of Mount Everest. Signed by both in black ink with their names alone to a light area of the cover. Contained in the original presentation wallet. VG
