A First World War medal trio and miniatures to J, 31960 A. E Battersby R.N, together with a 15ct hallmarked full hunter pocket watch, a Christmas tin, a Russian cigarette case, an Armistice day hand written signal , a Royal Humane Society Testimonial, various paperwork and photographs. Albert Edward Battersby served on The Princess Royal during the Battle of Jutland. On leave after the battle he saved a young girl, Lily Blake, from drowning and was presented the pocket watch with its full inscription back on board ship.

Captain Harold George Pritchett, a Policeman from Bedworth, who became a United States Army Captain. He served with the 6901st European Civil Affairs Division and was awarded the Bronze Star Medal. Serving between 1944 and 1947 he was present when Free French Leader General De Gaulle was shot at by snipers while taking the salute in the Champs Elysess, Pritchett was taking photos from his hotel room of the event when the shooting started. The lot includes the original Bronze Star Citation, newspaper cuttings, large photo album, original documents in large scrapbook, etc. Medals - 1939-45 Star, France & Germany Star, Defence & War Medal, Bronze Star (named) with case, and Mussert 1941 Bravery Cross in original box of issue with ribbon bar. Medals - Egypt Medal with The Nile 1884-85 clasp (1626 Sergt F Thomas 1 R.West Kent R), Jubilee Metropolitan Police Medal with 1897 clasp (PC F Thomas X Div), 1902 Coronation Metropolitan Police Medal (Bronze) (Inspector F Thomas C.O.Div.), 1911 Metropolitan Police Coronation Medal (Silver) (Chief Inspector F Thomas) and 1882 Khedives Star, plus matching Miniature Medal group. He is noted as Chief Superintendent CID Met Police. Together with some superb original photos. An interesting lot !
Ephemera - Original WW2 medal box of issue to LT/KX160090 Engineman Bernard Wray HMT Proof (M/S). Awarded the Distinguished Service Medal 3/7/1945. With original Buckingham Palace Letter, and Naval letter informing Wray of his medal. Awarded for consistent zeal, courage and good seamanship while serving with HM 104th and 31st Flotilla and 159th Trawler group and in HMCS Blairmore in arduous operations along the coasts of England and France.
