1922 East Midland Centre Auto Cycle Union silver medal - hallmarked Birmingham 1922 the obverse is finely embossed with a period motor cycle racing scene and on the reverse engraved "Hill Climb 1922 -W Cudlip, 62 mph" Note: The Auto-Cycle Union is the Governing Body for motorcycle sport throughout Britain. It is recognised by the Federation Internationale de Motorcyclisme (FIM). The ACU was a founder member of this body in 1904. The ACU was founded in 1903 as the Auto-Cycle Club was renamed the Auto-Cycle Union in 1907 and organised a series of Quarterly Trials and National Six Day Events before the end of that decade.

The following two lots 572 & 572a relate to the playing career of Neil «Neilly» Gibson. Neil Gibson (b. 1873 in Larkhall, Scotland) was a Scottish footballer who played for Rangers, Partick Thistle and the Scotland national team. Gibson joined Rangers in 1894 from junior side Royal Albert. During his time at Ibrox, he won four consecutive league titles (1898-99, 1899-1900, 1900-01 and 1901-02) as well as the Scottish Cup in 1897, 1898 and 1903. He moved to Partick Thistle in 1904 where he remained for five years. He was capped 14 times by Scotland between 1895 and 1905, scoring one goal. 1899-1900 Scottish Football League Championship 9ct gold winners medal: Won by Rangers gold and enamel medal presented to N Gibson housed in it`s original red velvet lined box made by P Vaughton & Sons Birmingham

World War One group of two awarded to 1579 PTE. F. LEA, 7 BN. A.I.F. to include Victory Medal and Anzac Commemorative Medal, 1967 in original box of issue, together with a George V British End of War Medal, 1919, with ribbon and two World War Two medals to include the Defence Medal and War Medal 1939-45 (5).
Charles Frederick Tunnicliffe (1901-1979), Waxwings, gouache, 20.5 x 18.5cm.; 8 x 7.25in, together with a letter of authentification from the sister of the artist - Dorothy Downes. * Tunnicliffe`s pictures are anatomically immaculate yet often especially the early etchings have great atmosphere. He won a scholarship to Macclesfield School of Art; then Manchester School of Art 1915-21 preceding a Royal Exhibition Scholarship to the Royal College of Art 1921. His work was bought by the British Museum Harris Museum and Art Gallery in Preston and by overseas collections. He won the gold medal of the Royal Society for the Protection of Birds 1975. Tunnicliffe was a hugely prolific illustrator of books about the country and had a long association with Henry Williamson author of Tarka the Otter 1932. Tunnicliffe`s own publications included My Country Book 1942; Mereside Chronicle 1948 and A Sketchbook of Birds 1979.
