A Sutlej Medal with exergue for Sobraon to Lieutenant Colonel J.A. Thompson 59th Regiment Native Infantry, named in impressed serifed capitals (LIEUT COL: J: A: THOMPSON 59TH REGT N:I:) with brooch pin to obverse and restored suspension. John Armston Thompson C.B. (1798-1866) served in various Indian regiments between 1817 and 1847, and held, in addition to the Sutlej Medal, the C.B, the Ghuznee Medal (Major 1st Bengal European Regiment), and the Order of the Durrani Empire 3rd Class.

Seaton V.A.D., Belgium: Order of Queen Elizabeth, mounted for wearing. John Reginald Upton Eliott-Drake-Colborne, 3rd Baron Seaton 1854-1933, followed a career in the Yeomanry, and served with the remount service in Lemnos, Egypt and Salonika. Elizabeth Beatrice (nee: Drake) Baroness Seaton was Vice President of the British Red Cross Devon Branch and served with the Voluntary Aid Detachment in Alexandria and Salonika. Offered with a quantity of research.
Four medals to Fireman George R. Crown late of the Hertfordshire Regiment, 1939-45 War Medal, G.S.M. with clasp for Palestine 1945-48 (14872017 Pte. G.R. Crown. Herts.), Jubilee Medal 1977 (privately named FM. G. Crown Beds. F.S.), Fire Brigade Long Service Medal (Fireman George R. Crown), mounted for wearing; together with a Hertfordshire Regiment badge, the recipient’s leather identity discs, and ribbon bars.
Two medals to Captain Alexander Murray-MacGregor Bell Royal Scots Fusiliers (late Argyll and Sutherland Highlanders), Queen’s South Africa Medal (Lieut A&S Highrs) with contemporary tailor’s copy clasps for Cape Colony and South Africa 1902, and 1914 Star (Capt R Sc Fus). Captain Bell died on 28th April 1915 of wounds sustained near Ypres on 19th February 1915. He was mentioned in despatches 31st May 1915. Offered with a small quantity of research.
A re-constituted group of four medals, comprising: a Queen’s South Africa Medal skimmed and re-named to 6817 Pte. T. Howley 2/E Surr.R with clasps for Cape Colony, Orange Free State, Transvaal, South Africa 1901 and South Africa 1902; and a Great War trio to L-6817 Private T. Howley 1/E.Surr: R., 1914 Star, BWM and Victory Medal (6817 E. Surr. R.). This man appears on the roll as entitled to the Q.S.A. with all clasps present here except S.A. 1901. It seems likely that the original medal was lost and had to be privately replaced.
Three medals attributable to Flight Lieutenant Richard Jack Kirby R.A.F., Burma Star, Defence Medal, 1939-45 War Medal; together with a good collection of associated items, including cloth pilot’s wings and other uniform items, a section of a propeller signed by members of a training course taken in Southern Rhodesia in 1943, two photograph albums, and correspondence including letters of commiseration to the recipient’s parents following his death in July 1945. Irish Fus:); King’s South Africa Medal with usual two clasps (2222 Serjt: W. Kent. Rl. Irish Fus:).
A Great War Military Medal attributable to Captain W.G.T. Hepplewhite R.A.M.C., cased; offered together with a presentation inscribed silver casket given to the recipient by the Mayor of Wallsend upon the award of his M.C. on 7th February 1918, hallmark for Birmingham 1916, maker’s mark of Walker and Hall; and three correspondence books (Army Book 152 (Field Service)) containing the carbon copies of reports submitted by this officer while on active service and providing a fascinating insight into the work of the Medical Corps in wartime. Captain Hepplewhite was awarded the M.C. for bravery in directing his stretcher bearers under heavy fire; he was over forty years of age at the time. Research suggests that he probably never applied for his campaign medals, and that, therefore, nothing is missing from this ‘group’.
A Great War trio and Memorial Plaque to Leading Signalman James Dunford Hall R.N., 1914-15 Star (J. 18911. J. D. Hall. Sig.. R.N.), British War Medal and Victory Medal (J. 18911. J. D. Hall. L. Sig. R.N.), Memorial Plaque in card case; together with a photograph of the recipient and a small quantity of correspondence relating to his death. Signalman Hall served at the battle of Jutland, and was among the men who were lost with the St Vincent class battleship H.M.S. Vanguard when she sank at Scapa Flow following an accidental explosion in July 1917.

Three Swarovski crystal figures, boxed, and a quantity of assorted cut glass including a set of five Hock glasses with green tinted stems and bases, a decanter painted with a French medal, cut glass bowls, vases, etc. CONDITION REPORT: Swarovski figures comprise two Pluto and one female duck and appear good with no obvious signs of faults, damage or restoration.
