1st Special Service Brigade (45 Royal Marine Commando) 7th June 1944 Casualty Group of four, paperwork and photo, France and Germany Star, 1939/45 Star, 1939/45 Medal and Defence Medal, in box of issue to Mrs E. Wright, together with framed photograph of Wright displaying 45 ROYAL MARINE COMMANDO BRIGADE insignia, Certificate of Service, Missing On War Service telegram, Reported Safe Telegram, Regret Previously Notified Information Was Killed on War Service Telegram, plus assorted correspondence pertaining to the clarification of when, if and where killed. PO. X. 3893 Alfred Wright was born on 10th November 1921 and joined the Portsmouth Division on the 21st March 1939 where he was until 14th May 1940, then served with H. 13. L. R.M. Brigade from 15th May 1940 to 1st July 1943, then again from 1st August 1943 to 7th June 1944. Provisional research shows that he served with 45 (Royal Marine) Commando as part of the 1st Special Service Brigade which was attached to the 6th Airborne, their role being to lad on Sword beach with the objective of meeting up with the 6th Airbourne at Merville Battery, and the Benouville and Ranville Bridges. Alfred Wright was buried at Francville Plage.

R.F.R. on Royal Fleet Reserve Long Service And Good Conduct Medal, together with his Mine Clearance Services badge, 39-45 Star, Atlantic Star, 39-45 Medal and Certificate, contained in box of issue, together with service papers and an extensive collection of photographs, ephemera etc. Edie Douglas Caine joined the Royal Navy on the 3rd of June 1918 and the R.F.R on 18th June 1934. He served on the A-Class Destroyer, HMS Achates from 25th August 1939 through to his death on 25th July 1941.Of note would be HMS Achate`s involvement with the German sinking of HMS Hood. Caine was killed during the Kirkenes air strike during which HMS Achates struck a mine, with the loss of 65 crew.

Antoni Murkowski DFC, 309 Squadron Polish Fighter Ace, presentation cigarette case, the chrome plated case engraved with 309 Squadron`s insignia and the owner`s initials AM, the inside with gold painted decoration and engraved UD KOLEGOW 309 SQ. and beneath this the following names GLOWACKI A., MENCEL J., KLAWE W., BIRTUS S., ANTOLAK E., KAMINSKI H., KARASZEWSKI K., MOZOLAWSKI J., CZERNI S., HACZKIEWICZ T., ZAJCHOWSKI S., LEWAMDOWSKI J., JAESCHKE Z., STANKIEWICZ Z., PIETRZAK A., LOSKA E., HANKA E., EISENBACH W., KULECKI T., KOGUT S., SWIECIKI S., ZAGROBA S., SULIKOWSKI A., KRUS L., RADKIEWICZ T. 1945, together with his ribbon bar, a 2nd Class Iron Cross, two Third Reich day badges, an RAF Sweetheart brooch, an RAF button and a Polish button. Warrant Officer Antoni Murkowski was credited with destroying an ME262 Jet Fighter on 9th April 1945 whilst piloting FB385, a MKIII Mustang of 309 Squadron. Murkowski was credited with a total of four aircraft kills and four V1 Rocket kills and damage to a further ME262. In the Summer of 1943 Murkowski had one confirmed kill and one damaged with 316 - City of Warsaw - Squadron, both FW190.He was awarded the DFC and Polish Medal of Valour. Of the names engraved to the inside of the case there are two further Aces, Klowe had seven confirmed kills and Pietrzak had nine.
