Frank Shepherd reads "On the Falaise road, south of CAEN on 26 July 1944, the battalion formed part of a firm base behind 22 Armd Bde. This position was under direct enemy observation and consequently it was subjected to intense shelling throughout the whole day. L/Cpl. Shepherd was at Bn.HQ in command of a party of stretcher-bearers, and as considerable casualties were incurred by the Bn. during the day, many calls were made upon him. In spite of continuous heavy shelling, and with complete disregard for his own safety, L/Cpl. Shepherd moved about the area, attending to the wounded and arranging for their evacuation. His constant cheerfulness, devotion to duty and fearless example was an inspiration to all the men, and by his action he was undoubtedly responsible for saving the lives of many of his companions."

The Royal Society's Silver Medal in Commemoration of Captain Cook (1784), designed by Lewis Pingo, the obverse with a bust of Captain James Cook and legend 'IAC.COOK OCEANI INVESTIGATOR ACERRIMUS' (James Cook, the most intrepid explorer of the oceans) 'REG. SOC. LOND. SOCIO SVO', the reverse with a figure of Fortune depicted as a standing draped female figure holding a spear in one hand and a rudder resting on a globe in her other hand, with a British shield resting against a pillar, and the legend 'NIL INTENTATUM NOSTRI LIQUERE' (Our men have left nothing unattempted), in the exergue 'AUSPICIIS GEORGII III L.P.f.', approximately 4.3cm, in a later white metal laurel leaf frame pendant from a white metal chain.Footnote :- this medal is one of only 322 produced in silver and commissioned by the Royal Society after Cook's death in Hawaii in 1779. There were 22 examples struck in gold and 577 in bronze. The medal was sponsored by the Royal Society in 1784 for subscribers to a fund in Cook's memory.

WW2 Dated Royal Army Chaplains' Department Battledress Uniformkhaki woollen, single breasted, fold flat collar, short jacket.  Lower extended belt.  Patch chest pockets with buttoned flaps.  Both arms with embroidery R.A.CH.D. titles.  Embroidery maroon backed Captain's rank.  Left chest with WW2 medal ribbons.  Internal issue label "Battledress Blouses 1942 Pattern" dated 1942.  Later Fife TA stamps ... Matching khaki woollen battledress trousers.  First aid pocket and left leg pocket removed.  Internal W.D. stamp for 1945.  Clean condition.
